Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Have any of you seen that email that's circulated around for years where every word is misspelled except for the first and last letters? It's amazing how well most people can still read it with all those errors. And how many times does a whole word get left out when typing? The human mind seems to automatically insert what's needed to make sense of the sentence anyway whether you're typing or reading. But then there are just my "happy little fingers" that type letters in the wrong order. My mind knows what to say but my fingers get confused!

Hey Dan, To discourage people from posting is just why I almost didn't "take a chance". There are spelling and grammar mistakes in nearly everyone's posts including mine as you see if you read the entire thread.
This is such a casual and welcoming place you should never hesitate to write in any manner that suits you.
I have this one thing that I thought I'd mention because it is so easy to fix and remember but I'm actually sorry I did it now since several people have commented that they wouldn't or don't post because they fear they aren't good enough.
That was never ever my intent and it makes me sad to read this from anyone. This is the last thing I'll say about this post. I was glad when it finally went away and hope it will again for good and not get resurrected.
Dan, I hope whoever sent you that PM was not anyone from this forum. I would hate to think that anyone is that smallminded. Please don't let that stop you from participating. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. My husband's spelling is atrocious, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't have important things to contribute and the same goes for you.
Best wishes,
Marion

There is very little correlation between spelling skills and intelligence level. Good spellers are born, not made. This is a good place to go for spelling help. http://www.dailywritingtips.com/spelling-isn%E2%80%99t-magic/
I am a school teacher and I can't spell. I use a dictionary a lot when I write anything formal. When ever a student would ask me how to spell a certain work I would tell him/her to "look it up." The students thought it was because I wanted them to have practice in using a dictionary. Little did they know.
Amonst friends.............what is a little misspelled word anyway?

OK. Let me explain. When Jo was in school, they were teaching using Phonics. So, when she tries to go to the dictionary to look up a word, she begins by looking by the "sound" of the word. Thus, for example "psychiatry" would make her look in the "S" section. A number of times she has complained that she really feels cheated that they used phonics and now she has problems with spelling.
Even today, after years of reading and seeing the words spelled out, she still has to call me and get a clue as to where to look for a word. Fortunately, we work in the same place, so if needs be, I can walk down the hall to help her with different documents she is working on. I'm her "walking dictionary."
So, this experience and having been a school board member, I really get ticked off at some of the education concepts that keep coming up.

The anonymous says it all... if they don't have the stones to at least let you know who they are, they don't have the right to correct you. Don't worry about small minds...
Best,
Marion
