Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

They refuse to make good.

A few months ago I posted regarding the problem we were having with the dealer from whom we bought our 2009 Montana.   Following an accident where the back wall was separated from the side, we took it to them for repair.

We were initially less than happy when it took them five weeks to place the order for parts.   Bottom line, they first saw the rig on May 24 and did not order parts until July 6.   Work was completed around August 29.

When we picked it up we noticed the steps had been changed out.  There was no reason to change the steps.  We asked and they told us they needed to be changed.  Stupid us - we took it home.  Once home we realized these steps were probably made for a travel trailer.  The bottom step was at least 16 inches from the ground.  We called the dealer - SCOTT MOTORCOACH of Lakewood, NJ.

They told us then that another rig needed new steps and ours was changed by mistake.  We could bring it back and they would replace the steps - free of charge!  DId they really think we should pay for their mistake?   As it was a 198 mile round trip and we were due for a NOMADS project in NC in five days, we did not have time to take it back.    We wrote to Keystone, hoping we could come to some resolution.  After not getting a response, we called Keystone customer service.  They said they do not get involved between dealers and customers!

We then bought a platform to use for the bottom step.  Depending on how we are parked, the lenght between step and ground has been as high as 20".

So, last month Len called SCOTT MOTORCOACH of Lakewood, NJ.  He suggested they send us correct steps and he would install them.  They said they would look into it.  Not getting a return call, he called them last week.  They said we have the correct steps and they refuse to do anything further.

Check out the pictures on our blog I posted today.   www.theeastsheadwest.blogspot.com

Can you see the problem?

Bottom line - I am telling anyone who considers doing business with SCOTT MOTORCOACH of Lakewood, NJ to really think it over.  We are so disappointment with them and Keystone we will never deal with either again.

Hi Phyllis,

Sorry that you are still having issues!! I saw those two pictures on your blog - the difference looks pretty obvious to me.

I found this page online - the Better Business Bureau of New Jersey. http://www.newjersey.bbb.org/
There is a link on the page to file a complaint.

Phyllis, Are you a good Sam Member? The magazine section has a good record of getting things resolved like this. Also Trailer Life Magazine gets good results.Good Luck.

Phyllis,

I am so sorry to hear this.  You know my story, so you know I am indeed feeling your frustration.  As suggested, please write/email  the Good Sam Club with this problem.  I would also contact the local and state BBB about the dealer.  In addition, post in as many places as you can think of . . . here, obviously, along with Escapees, Workamper, etc.  Oh yes, and the MOC!

Believe me, the power of the pen . . .

I do hope someone does the right thing for you!

Cheers,
Betty
