Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Churches

I had an idea for my wife and now she is excited about the prospect.  She plays piano and has been in church choirs since she was a  young lady.  Since we have plans to camp in church parking lots a lot, and try and attend church on Sunday mornings, I told her why don't we see how many churches you can join their choir for that Sunday morning service.  We would tell their director what we are doing and I am 100% sure he/she would love this idea.

We could document the name of the church, get a witness, take a photo of her in the choir, and maybe if she participates in 100 choirs accross this country this might get her name in the Guinness Book of Record.

Plus, they might be having a homecoming and you know what this means, a free meal with some extra for the road.

We are fulltimers and travel all over the USA and Canada. We worship in churches as we travel. We also belong to 2 church building organizations and have worked on many churches, church camps, church related colleges, childrens homes and church conference centers as well as Teen Challenges. We are presently constructing a church in Florida. We volunteer our time and tallents and find the work very rewarding to be able to help others.

TerryG,    when you say " plans to camp in church parking lots", what are you saying?  I have not heard that one before.  Might be something DH & I would like to know about.

Thanks

When I say camp, I mean boondocking in a church parking lot for one night.  If invited too, might could stay another night or two if we like the location.  This is certainly not my idea, I've never camped in a church parking lot or anyother parking lot for that matter.  But when we go full time this will be an important part of our plans, at least I think it will.

I got this idea from reading the blog of another full-timer a few months back.  In his blog he stated he had never paid to stay anywhere in over 2 years.  I wish I could run accross his blog again.  I need to print this good stuff sometimes.

He stated that he would pull into a church parking lot, and if the church was isolated, with no houses around, he would just part there, and had never been asked to leave.  If there were a house nearby, like a parsonage, he would ask for permission to park, and again, had never been refused.  He stated him and his wife had attended many many services and been asked out to eat many times as their guest in homes and restaurants.

Of course it sure helps to be a friendly,  approachable, and be blessed with  a very outgoinging personality that doesn't turn people off.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Terry
