Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
The original furniture in our Mobile Suites was just not proving to be comfortable. So, Jo and I have followed the lead of several others and replaced it with some new stuff. The couch and two recliners are now gone and sold via Craig's List. In their place are two other items. One is a La-Z-Boy Reclina-Way loveseat and the other is a Lane euro-chair with ottoman.
The La-Z-Boy style is called Maverick and the fabric/finish is called Saddleback. The Lane euro-chair with ottoman is covered with vinyl.
We originally thought that the DRV furniture would be good, but after sitting in them for a while, we decided otherwise. I guess I would have to go out on a limb and suggest that if anyone is ordering a new fifth wheel, check out the original stuff very closely. You might want to delete the original furniture and buy your own.
The link below will take you to our Photobucket account where you can see how our unit is now laid out with the new loveseat, euro-chair, and stereo cabinet and speakers. Click on each thumbnail to see larger photos, and then you can also click on the larger one to see yet another larger one.
If you are spending time in northern Indiana around Elkhart/South Bend/Shipshewanna you should check out Lambright Comfort Chairs if you are looking for new furniture, http://www.amishcountry.org/destinations/lambrightcomfortchairs, just south of Shipshewanna. We just bought a wall hugger recliner from them and are very happy with it.

I hate it when this happens, but I have to admit a mistake. In my original post, I said the Lane euro-chair was vinyl. Sorry, it is leather. When I originally read the label on the underside, I missed seeing the reference to leather and only saw a reference to vinyl, which is evidently in some other part of the chair.
My bad...

Many people, ourselves included, have gotten rid of the original furniture and replaced it with residential furnishings. I don't know of anyone who has had to secure the furniture.
One restriction, is the the furniture has to fit through the door, or you have to remove the large rear window for entry. A lot of furniture has removable backs which makes door entry possible, even when the assemble piece appears to be too large to fit.
For anyone ordering a unit from the factory, I would advise getting it without furniture if possible, and maybe enjoying some cost savings, as I've never met anyone yet who was really happy with RV furniture.
As Fred mentioned, there usually isn't a need to secure the furniture. However, some precautions need to be taken. When we had the separate recliners in our coach, if we traveled anywhere, we turned the recliners around so that the footrests and front of the chairs were against the slide's outside wall. The reason is because the chairs swiveled and rocked. By pushing them against the wall in the above fashion, they couldn't turn or rock and damage any window treatments or blinds with the back of the chair.
Most furniture is heavy enough that if they aren't rocking, they won't be unstable enough to turn over or damage anything. Just be sure to measure and make sure that whatever you purchase and put in will be cleared when the slides come in.
As Fred also mentioned, the backs of a lot of furniture will come off so that they can be carried into the coach through the door. Measure the width of your door and make sure the height of the "seat section" will go through that opening. Usually, the "depth" of the furniture from front to back is more than what the "height" would be from top of arm to the floor. In our case, we turned the loveseat so that the back was facing down, leaving us with a shorter lenght than had we tried to carry it in "upright".
Be sure and ask to make sure that the backs of the furniture will come off. Not all furniture does. In addition, if one gets a reclining product that does not have the "wall-a-way" feature, one will need to keep moving the furniture in or out when preparing to travel or setting back up. The La-Z-Boy Reclina-Way does not need to be moved all the time.
It can be confusing as to whether a product needs to be secured because some campers are equipped with belts attached to the floor with which to secure the furniture. I think the biggest problem would be if something got to rocking back and forth and got into a "harmonic motion" with the lurching/swaying of the coach, then it might would get bad enough to cause something to tip over.
Just be VERY alert when "closing up" to travel. It is good to create a good checklist of things to do, both inside and out, when preparing to travel or get set up.
Hope this helps you.

We deleted the big bulky recliners in our new 5th wheel as part of our purchase agreement. We had one euro chair with foot stool in the house which we moved to rig. Plus DH had a favorite, swivel, reclining office chair that we also moved out. He feels the Stressless chair seat hight a little low for him so he prefers the office chair. It also works as a desk chair when using the laptop because of the wheels. The office chair travels on its side and the Stressless rides in place with the footstool upside down in the seat.
Just a thought for what works for us.

We've since gotten rid of the Lane "euro-chair" as it was difficult for us to get up from it. It was comfortable sitting, but a mess for getting up. We've since changed the rear of our coach to have an area for Jo to do her sewing and embroidery, and we added a small recliner that she had at work to give us a place to sit. It is narrower than what the euro chair was.

I am not picky much about furniture....so long as it is cloth (hate sticking to leather/vinyl). My issue is that the queen mattress on my bed at home....better fit in the RV....lol. I love my mattress......
This one is the same floor plan, but newer than ours and it's an Elite Suites instead of a Mobile Suites. Rolling Retreats has the unit listed, but so far, no pictures. There is not a link directly to that unit, but it is down in the "Trade In" section and the top one in that section.
Dale and Ruth (NW Escapees) purchased the same year and model as ours some time back from Alicia and Slade there at Rolling Retreats. If you were looking for a used unit, you would want to ask "whomever" whether it had the queen-sized bed or not. The Elite Suites that is at the link does have a queen bed. If you order, you can specify the queen.

This is a pretty old post, so I'm not sure your questions were addressed to me or not, so I'll answer as if they are.
The desk is a part of the floor plan and cabinet. That is one of the main reasons that we like this plan. I spend a LOT of time at this desk. As for the bed, it is a queen-sized Select Comfort bed. When DRV builds a unit, they are standard with a king-sized bed unless the customer opts for the queen. By getting the queen-sized bed, we also got the second nightstand with storage below. A king bed takes up so much room that there is only one nightstand with them.

Thanks, Terry - you did get the question and answer right! I didn't realize that model had a desk. You may recall I was looking at the 43' models, specifically the Phoenix for the desk space. But this model may adequately meet my needs as well. The photo also made the bed look like a full size, not a queen, but that's exactly the size I would want. And that model is probably more in line with my potential budget than the Phoenix!
