Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

West Coast of Florida Recommendations hopefully???

We are nearing the end of our stay in the lovely Fort De Soto Park in St. Petersburg and have been looking for something around Crystal River or half way between St. Pete and St. George Island State Park in the Pan Handle.   Every Florida state park I can find between those two spots does not have camping only day use.

Can anyone recommend a nice place for a week between those two spots?'

thanks for your help,
Sherry

It's not quite in the middle, but I think you might love Cedar Key - and the place to stay is the Low Key Hideaway, run by a great young couple named Pat and Cindy Bonish.

Cedar Key was one of our favorite places in all of Florida, it's a genuine throwback to the way Florida used to be 50 years ago. A really laid back fishing town.

Safe travels,

Ceder key is really nice.  Also, Manatee Springs state park has a nice campground with good bike trails.

I second Cedar Key and Manatee Springs both. I am originally from Florida and grew up in Gainesville. Even if you don't stay at Cedar Key, go out there on a day trip. It is Florida for real (before all the investors came in) and you don't want to miss it. I have camped both in Cedar Key (but not the place mentioned) but don't remember the name of the place - 6 years ago and I have also camped at Manatee Springs State Park many years ago. It was wonderful back then. Maybe we'll get back there this winter. Who knows!

And me again. I forgot to mention that 6 years ago we stayed in a nice place at Crystal River called Desota Caverns RV Resort. It was very nice back then but understand the owners have changed since then so don't know what it would be like today.

Cedar key is definitely a place we want to go which is one of the reasons we are looking for some sort of close camping.  Will check out your recommendation Luvglass.  And also the one at Crystal River.

We don't usually do RV parks or resorts.  We love state parks and were hoping some of them along the west coast would have camping but it appears not.

Thanks for the ideas and keep them coming.  You guys are the best.
