Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We're 70 miles inland from Myrtle Beach, SC and now on our third straight day of rain thanks to the cold front and Tropical Storm Nicole. Good thing is no winds.
We love our Montana . . . except there seem to be things continually wrong.
Now it's leaks again along the same seam towards the front end, right over the bed. Not leaking in exactly the same spot but further down the seam over the bed and against the wall with water streaming down the wall.
Wonderful.
Bath Fan-Tastic fan died. Got replacement parts from Fan-Tastic, but it really should not have burnt out a motor and lift arm in 6 months and only 3 months of full-timing. If that is what the problem really is. We haven't been able to do that replacement because it's been raining!
One side of the sofa storage drawer is off the track probably thanks to our seller dealer in TX where we took the 5er in for other work. It was fine until they had hold of it moving it around on the lot and then failed to address the sofa when I pointed it out to them.
Decals peeling; not the one that was replaced but others.
Shower head turnoff button does not work. Cover on hot shower knob comes loose but can be pushed back on.
We've come to live with the landing gear blowing a fuse most of the time by keeping extra fuses on hand. Lots of 'em.
We've already had the fireplace replaced which had died and the kitchen faucet replaced because it was leaking.
I think there are leaks at the base of the kitchen windows; they slide not tilt open. Yes, they are closed tight and have only been open a couple of times.
Front exterior light by storage compartment never has worked. True, maybe just the ground wires but still. No, it's not the bulb. Been there, done that.
Oh yeah, the tank sensors don't really work but that seems to be a given.
Hmmm...it think that's it. We are sitting here with it pouring rain and a stream down the wall in the bedroom, can't sleep on the bed and feeling very disappointed and discouraged. Not to mention the damage being done internally to insulation and the like.
I will, of course, be on the phone in the morning with Keystone. I'm like, hey, can you fix this or did we get a dud here. And while you're figuring that out, get somebody out here and take of it. We have to be on the work site. No, we can't put it in the shop.
Other than that, we love it . . . but for a new unit it is disappointing. We got a good deal but now we wonder . . . hmmmm. . . and it is wasn't cheap at that. Besides, it's our freakin' home.
Sorry . . . venting. Are so many problems with a new rig normal?

Nope, they ain't normal in most brands. Our Mobile Scout was one of the last model years of Sunnybrook that was well done. Since then, well, reports differ. We had a bad igniter on the water heater, the inlet water connection was cheap plastic, and the fantastic fan needed some silicone spray on the gasket. Other than that, not much.
Leaks, OMG, bad bad bad. I suggest you go to myrvtalk.com and search for Eternabond. One guy removed caulk and used Eternabond tape on all his seams. Looks neat and stops all leaks. It can be a DIY project. Of course, it must be dry.
Talked to Keystone to advise them on what's going on with our Montana.
Talked to nearest RV dealer. They will be coming out this afternoon.
Talked to extended warranty folks. They will cover the service call fee if there is one.
Now if everything gets fixed . . . well, I am a Dreamer, after all!
Thanks, Merc, for the affirmation that "this ain't normal." I am surprised with all our problems given that it's a Montana. Some, sure, what rig won't have 'em when new. BUT! It's a bit frustrating.
Keep yer fingers crossed for us!
Oh yeah, the good news is our HughesNet came through the 4" of rain we got yesterday with flying colors, only briefly losing the signal about three times for less than 5 minutes each. I think that's pretty darn good considering the torrential downpours we had. Sweet!
Cheers!

I've had better luck with the mobile service guy than I ever had with service at the dealer. Hopefully your experience will be the same.
Our 5th wheel when new had lots of problems. We ended up going back to the factory 8 times to get everything fixed. Once all the initial problems were solved, it's been great.
I think what happens is a brand becomes popular and the factory begins building faster and faster to keep up with demand. The factory that built ours had 3 shifts going. So you can see that if one person doesn't finish something like tightening a plumbing fixture or sealing a seam and the message doesn't get passed onto the next shift and quality control misses it, there's a chance for a whole bunch of little things that need to be fixed.

At the last RV Dreams rally in South Carolina one of our RV'er “newbie’s” had a “virgin” Mobile Suites with a major slide issue along with some other more minor squawks common on a new rig.
After the Rally they took it to the Camping World in Myrtle Beach and had excellent service down there fixing the slide.I am told CW worked direct with the factory who handled the cost.
I have no idea what results you might have. But all Camping World’s are apparently not the same based on the experiences of my friend who took his there after the rally. They were very pleased.
If you’re where I think you are, you’re not too far from Myrtle Beach and so I offer this information in hopes you might at least get the leak fixed.
Thanks for the info. See my "bad to worse" post for more developments.
We do have a service tech from a local dealer coming out to our site tomorrow to spend time diagnosing our problems.
Cheers, Betty
