Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Anyone want to trade an RV Class A for a condo in Denver?

I don't know whether to laugh or not, but I'm actually serious.  I own a condo in Denver, CO that is empty and doing no good for me at all!  I want to buy a used Class A, but things in north Alabama are not that good right now for used RVs (all too freakin' high!)

The condo in Denver is in Woodstream Falls.  I bought it several years ago, when my oldest son was having problems and needed a place to live and a job.  He was going to do some upgrades and sell it for me, which never happened.  Now, he's in a serious relationship (should be married) and owns a home with his 'girl friend'.

Did I mention that the used condo market in Denver is in the toilet?

When I bought it, there was a fight going on against the current HOA over a massive assessment, which had dropped the values in the complex.  I paid 50k (2004), but the current tax appraisal was 129k.  Then, the HOA raised the assessment to 20k a unit, and all of the units that were on HUD loans suddenly became vacant.  With nearly 50 (of several hundred) units in HUD repo status, the values nosedived again, with my new tax appraisal at 30K!

Now all the fighting is over, all the repos are sold, there's a new HOA (that are not crooks trying to 'steal' the complex) and all is well, except for the Denver market.  My realtor agrees that the unit is worth AT LEAST 50K, I have it listed for 49K, and I'm willing to take anything that will leave me with 40K in hand.  It has 2 bedrooms, 1 batch, a nice sized living/dining area, a medium kitchen with appliances, and a small fenced patio.  One parking space comes with the unit, with others available from the HOA.  The neighborhood is great (so I'm told), with good schools and shopping close.

Now, I'm wanting an RV and am willing to trade, straight up for anything that has a similar 'retail' value to my condo.  I'm not a brand-conscious type of guy, but I do want a Class A (gas or diesel) that is around 34 feet long.  A LR slide is required, along with a BR that has a 60X80 queen bed (usually requires slide).  Everything else is optional/negotiable, based on what I've been investigating.  I would prefer the Ford chassis for gas.  I don't know anything about diesel engines or frames, but I know I don't want a Ford or Chevy 'diesel' engine.

Please contact a realtor in Denver, if you are interested in buying a condo there, as this 'ad' is intended ONLY to see if anyone wants to trade.

Okay, this may not be the right place to post this, as you are not reaching a vast enough audience.

Sounds like the condo IS worth something. You live in Alabama I guess? Post on Craigslist (without all the explanations and story above, although it was extremely interesting . Our kids NEVER do what they promise when we hellp them out, do they? Typical to leave Dad in the bind, or Mom) in Denver for both the condo and an RV and when you find someone willing to make a deal, get yourself up there and do it. Posting locally for this trade (under property for sale AND rv's) will be more feasible than living down here (I am in the South as I type this) and hoping someone wants a condo up in Denver.

I would state that you are willing to trade for _______ and put your specifications in the ad on both areas in Craigslist.Denver. It just might fly, get rid of that condo for you, get an nice RV and give you a chance to drive back with your new possession.

Just a thought on my part.

This was just sort of a lark, as I joined this forum yesterday.  However, I did notice that there are folks here from all over the country, a lot of which are full timers, so I thought that there would be at least a small audience for this.  I do plan on going to the Denver Craigslist, but I have to be careful not to step of the toes of my realtor.  If I'm successful, I certainly don't want to have to pay his commission for something that I did.

When I perused the RV listings for the Denver Craigslist, there was nothing there but class C's and very old class A's, so that was a dead end.
