Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hi everyone from Wimberley, TX where we used to live and stopped for a few days to do some errands, visit my son and then head on to Bradenton, FL for a week, then to NC, TN, IN and ???? 

We were supposed to finally begin this workamper life in Chester, CA this year. Second time we were offered the same position (I asked the second time if we could try again) and got terribly ill the first time and this time life got in the way with a huge delay that made us have to back out. We did do a 2 month stint as ranch caretakers and after that, we feel more than ready to begin workamping. Long hours, no days off and we are tired. But re-energizing during this trip and putting out applications, posting on Workamper, KOA, you name it. Something WILL come along. We've had some shady offers, offers for us to work 40 hours each for one little site and offers to work in areas nobody wants to work in, but we are holding out for something at least halfway interesting.

We have dreamed of doing this for years. The first try was about 5 years ago. We went back to our normal life (Ha) for the next several years, made sure my health was okay (I have controlled lupus) and are raring to live our own dream. Hope to garner a lot of great knowledge from this site. Have already chuckled at Howards writing of their adventures. What a great story teller.

Well, let another set of Millers welcome you to the RV Dreams forum.  In our case, we are in the Oklahoma City area, trying to sell our home and do "static" full-timing in our Mobile Suites until we retire.  Then, we'll get to hit the road.

If you've been "lurking" around, you probably know that you have found a valuable site with a lot of friendly, knowledgeable folks.  However, don't feel intimidated by "experienced" (read that OLD) RV'ers and feel free to ask questions or make comments.  That way, you become a part of the family with folks here learning more about you.

Have a good time, and drive safely wherever you go.

Welcome to the greatest RV forum on the web (personal opinion)!

I can't possibly imagine being ranch caretakers for two months, well at my age and condition anyway. I might have loved that in my younger days. I imagine you are really tired and ready to move on.

Hi Ckerr from up the road. I hear the weather has finally broken and cooled down there. That's why we left in the first place! Too hot!

Jagco: I chuckled when I read your post. We DID get WAY too tired. Rick worked 10-12 hour days, 7 days per week and did everything from feed animals to tractor work of all kinds, build barn doors, repair fencing, wrangle alpacas for breeding (those females can fight off going to the male pens, lol) and everything the ranch owner lady wanted him to do. I told her he'd burn out but it took 5 weeks before he turned to me and asked me to tell the boss we needed time off. We'd tried before to get a day, but she thought Rick was Wonder Man and didn't listen. We are 58 and 60 and it was too much for us for sure. I only fed alpacas, did help with the breeding, and pulled weeds, did a bit of guest house cleaning and watered the lawn and flowers, but I got pooped out too. Workamping should be a blast next to that!

Anyway, thanks for all of the "hellos"!
