Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Other than HP all in one??

I'd like to get an update on the only thread I can find on printers in RVs which is from 2008.   Everyone then seemed to have HP all-in-ones and most were pretty happy with them.  Main suggestions were get an all-in-one and get a small one.

Is that still the consensus?  HP?   Does anyone have anything else they like that works well and for which the toner doesn't cost more than the printer did?

Going over to Best Buy and Office Depot this week-end so thought I'd ask the experts first.

thanks AGAIN,
Sherry

Hi Sherry!

We bought a Canon all in one just a month ago.  Made sure it was wifi to go with our wifi network in the 5er.
It was easy to install and is easy to use.  Just plug it in, follow the VERY short instructions and you are all set.

Love it!

Doris

Sounds great Doris.  Which one did you get and where?  Hope the toner doesn't turn out to be outrageous.  That was what a lot of people in the previous thread said.  They only paid $99.99 for the machine but the toners were $80.   Whew....

That's what we want print/scanner/copier/fax and wireless.  Isn't it amazing what we think we have to have these days.  And what they make all in one machine.

We are still very happy with our HP all in one.Does everything we ask without a hickup. We go on E-Bay and buy ink cartridges on sale or check sale bins at Best Buy,etc.

My in-laws found that their HP all-in-one could not handle one computer on Windows XP and another on Windows 7 when using wifi printing and HP's technical support said that is the way it is. They bought an Epson all-in-one and it works great through wifi. The Epson is louder than the HP but otherwise they are quite happy with it.

Still in a S&B but have a Canon 850 hooked up to our wireless router. It plays well with all computers on our network (2 XP's, 2 Vista's and 3 Seven's). We have 2 computers wired into the router and 5 wireless devices and all can print from the Canon.

Looking at:
F-350/Ram 3500 type truck, possibly an Airstream or a smaller 5th Wheel.

However, there is still time to change the configuration, just a plan.

This is great information you guys.  I never thought about having a problem with multiple operating systems which we have.  Thanks so much.  We'll look for Epson and Canon given this.  Wonder how we'll know if a particular model can handle both other than giving it a try?

I just condenses to an HP wireless inkjet/scanner. I rarely fax & use eFax when I need to, so I don't need that component & it's one less piece to fail (& is the piece that most often does fail).

If our all-in-one dies (it's a Lexmark), I'll get Canon flat bed scanner like this, http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/scanners/photo_scanners/canoscan_lide200, for under $100 and a separate printer. We saw printers at Wally World for $59. I can't buy a black & color print refill for less than that! At that rate, replace the printer as needed...forget the ink refills. LOL...

Been thinking on this question for awhile also.  Have small printer but don't like how they scan.  That small flatbed looks perfect!

When I traveled for business a lot, I carried an earlier model of that with me. It worked well and took up just a little room in the laptop case. Definitely going that route next time around...easier to store when moving and makes the printer have a much smaller footprint.

Sorry Sherry, it took me so long to answer....We have a Canon MX340.  The cartridges were about 30 for the black and 39, I  think for the color.  It works with both of our laptops, both on Windows 7.

I liked it because I will be scanning all of our pictures (33 yrs of marriage, 3 kids and 5 grandkids) onto my computer and then to an aux drive.  It has a feeder on top, so I can stack some pictures and just wait until they are all done and stack some more...have tried it, it works great.

Hopefully it won't take me years to get it done :).

Also the setup was the easiest I've ever had with a printer.
