Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Club Workamper

Ok, first question from us..officially smile.gif. Al asked me to right and inquire if people on these boards think the new Club Workamper is good and something we should sign up for as they are doing the one price pays forever right now....anyone have any opinions on this please? Thanks!!

Karen

I don't see any reason to join. We make plenty of friends while workamping and we keep in touch via Facebook or email. I keep reading the charter and I just don't see any value added for us. I love the workamper site, even just renewed our membership for 3 more years, but we won't be members of the club. There are plenty of free sites out there for workampers. That's my opinion...

I agree with NorCal Dan.  We've been members of Workamper.com for 10 years, and I really don't see any tangible benefits to Workamper Club for us.

Like the responses above, I cannot see any added benefit from the new program.  We do belong to Workamper.com and will definitely keep the membership we have, but not forking out more for the new Club.

To each his/her own . . .

I wrote them and this is just a forum to keep in contact with other members. You would still have to pay for the workamper information. I don't see any reason for it either. I thought the price was a bit high anyway.

Hey Dan,

Seen many of your posts and get a lot of great info...my question is do you actively persue workamping opertunities?  or do you wait for potential job seekers to respond to your resume?

Of the 4 jobs we have accepted 3 were from me sending them our resume and one employer contacted me after veiwing our resume on Workamper.com.  I don't think all CG's review resume's so I would not recommend waiting for them to call you.

If you see a job that sounds like something you would enjoy doing, and in a location that interests you, then by all means persue that oppourtunity.  Unless they state no phone calls in their advertisement I always call first.  You can learn so much from a phone call.  Just like when we are traveling and looking for a place to overnight, we call them.  There have been a few times we passed based just on the phone call.  It's called attitude, and it's easy to pick up on during a phone call, but very difficlut from email's.

I also use RV Park Reviews to see what others have said about the park.  Most reviewers have no problem telling it like it is...maybe the hosts/manager were terrible, maybe the sites aren't level, power problems, non-existent wifi, all point to problems you can expect if you decide to work there.

Hope that helps...

After reading the thread, I am glad I am not the only one who thought the "Club Workamper" wasn't worth the money.  I had read all of the info. they had sent me, and didn't see any added
benefit except you could communicate with other workampers (?)
I am an active member of Workamper.com for years ....and like
NorCal Dan, we have made many contacts thru friends, facebook and working.

I personally, although I use Workamper.com and paid for my subscription for Workamper Plus, will not pay for this. It seems that the marketing keeps getting more and more important than I would like. I can't blame them for trying to generate income, but not all of us want that extra expense and many apparently do not need nor will use it.

I was just "over there" reading some posts about this Club proposition.  I may have read it wrong, but some of the enhancements offered to Gold/Platinum members will include ways to make higher-profile resumes, etc.  This will be in beta testing by Club members in October (I think) and then available to us regular folks for an additional cost on top of our Plus membership in 2011.

This whole thing makes me uneasy.  Of course, I know they can do whatever they want but it seems they are losing the spirit of the original intent of WKN and "going Hollywood." ??

Besides, what are they really offering?  I've left out the text description of the headers, but you can find it all at the WKN site.

"CONNECTION"-  Well, isn't that the purpose of the WKN forums already in place?  Those and other such forums like our home here at RV-Dreams?

"NETWORKING" –  See above.  Isn't this the same thing?

"MARKETING" – You're telling me workampers have never applied for other jobs and do not know how to compose an eye-catching resume?

Seems like a lot of elitist fluff and hooey (whatever that is) and we'll pass, thank you.

Psssst . . . anyone want to get together and start a Web site ? ? ? biggrin

Betty, I totally agree with you. It makes me think of all the other schemes out there that turn me off. Too darned commercial.

I have seriously thought of starting a website, to be honest. I was chewing on ideas as we drove from Panama City Beach today to Bradenton. This whole Rving lifestyle has so inspired me that thoughts are spinning around. Now I've got to get them to stand still enough to grasp them!
