Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
After many years of fighting it, I finally gave into my wife, relatives, and friends and got a facebook account. Now that I have the account, I do see some real value in this free forum. I have been able to find several long lost friends, distant relatives, childhood buddies, old classmates, and old military comrades and I am able to easily keep up with family, friends, coworkers, etc. all at the same time. You would be surprised to find out how many businesses and community groups such as RV clubs are now on facebook. If you do not yet have a facebook account, I really encourage you to take a few minutes and set-up an account. It truly is just another form of online interaction like travel blogs, discussion forums, live chat, photo posting, news blogs all wrapped up into one. You can easily link to your other online endeavors and you can pick and choose what things are seen by what people. Don't get me wrong, I am not a person that likes to use texting nor will I ever get a twitter account, but facebook gets two thumbs up with me.
Come and visit; we are always looking for other full-timers to be friends with online and share our experiences and travels.

I really like Facebook, and I'm not someone who enjoys social networking sites. It's a way for broadcasting news to my friends, which is really convenient.

I also like facebook. I don't post there a lot, but it makes it easy to let my friends and family know bits of news about us without having to call or e-mail everyone. I also share pics that others would be interested in (like new grandson pics :D) or steal my dil's pics. :D It is just a very convenient way to keep in touch. I don't twitter. I don't post what I had for breakfast, every time I go to Wally World, etc. but I do post the news that would interest most of my "friends." And in return, I get to know what is going on with those I care about.
We use Facebook every day. Delaine post lots of pictures of our travels and many who aren't able to travel really like the pictures she downloads. We also keep up with lots of our RV friends there. GBY...

Stu and I started in FB two years ago this December, mainly because most of our kids and several grandkids were on it. Now all our kids and and more grandkids as well as siblings, nieces and nephews are on it, too.
Before we knew it we were finding old school chums, co-workers and even missing cousins. Add in our motorcycle and RV friends and we really enjoy it. It's a great way to get a quick snapshot of their lives.
We use networkedblogs to announce our new blogs to FB, works well.
Us too! Surprise, surprise I also did not embrace the facebook world right away, but the more I use it, the better it gets. It feels so much better to send out bits of news on facebook where people can see it without my having to clutter up their inbox. then, my facebook entries link to the real thing on my blogs or website. It's so unintrusive, and so effective.
Totally love FB. Only started a eblog because so many other FT'ers seem to dislike it. The main issues with FB are related to security, and that's an easy fix. Set your settings to a secure httpS setting, rather than the normal http setting. Simple fix in your account settings. The other thing, is to have a decently difficult password, so you can't be phished/hacked. And the BIGGEST no-brainer, that for some reason, people just don't want to grasp... DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS THAT LOOK SUSPICIOUS. If your longtime friend puts up a link about something that you KNOW that person isn't into... your friend has been PHISHED. By clicking on the link... you will be phished as well.
Also, don't do the bazillions of APPS and GAMES that FB allows to be on their site. Those apps are almost always loaded with spyware of some sort. It's so simple to just stay smart, and your computer will stay safe.

We've been using Facebook for a couple of years now and quite frankly, it's become the major way we keep up with our full timing friends all over the country.
I've used facebook for a couple years now. A lot of my adventures are on a motorcycle or in the backwoods in a jeep so a fast picture with my phone sent to facebook sends out a glimps of what is going on.
I'm not one that has seeked out hundreds of friends but only a handfull of close friends. There are some people I just don't want involved that closely in my personal life.
It turns out that I did not have a lot of folks other than family on my Facebook page and I stay in contact with them anyway. Some of the folks that I found through other connections often posted stuff of no interest to me so I just kept hiding these posts. Turns out I had more hidden stuff than I had actual posts. I also find that I have a pretty boring life and I rarely had anything to say on Facebook. "Got up today, went to work, now I am home." "Played some poker, lost again, off to work tomorrow." I applaud those who can keep a blog going as their life is much more interesting than mine. I deleted my Facebook page last week.
I, too, ignored FB for a long time but then it was part of a job, so I signed up. Am having loads of fun with it, found some high school friends, neighbors, other cancer survivors, etc. Find that it is a great way to keep in touch. We all enjoy sharing photos.

I had a FB account, but dropped it when they started messing around with the default privacy settings. It became apparent to me that Facebook was out for itself and not on the side of the user community. But, after a few months of trying to ignore the pressure of friends and family, I finally signed up again. I check it occasionally, just to see what may be going on, but I never see anything that turns out to be worth my time. I'm still not a fan.

Not a fan here either. I do blog and email friends and family. I find fb like a soap opera at times. Too much drama for me. I let my account go. Something funky about it too. I used an email account that I have for those things you have to sign up for that you are not sure you want....filled with spam and even a note from an ex with a link attached. Not going there.
I enjoy Facebook since it makes me feel like I am at a family reunion. Since I have a hearing impairment that makes it a challenge for me to hear people in crowds, FB gives me the opportunity to chime in on conversations with my family and friends.
I also use FB to let friends and family know I've updated our travel blog.
