Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Winterizer Stain on Carpet

When I first bought my RV I filled my fresh water tank  and turned on the pump and the kitchen sink. Not long after that I found water leaking on my carpet and I found that the bottom of my water filter had cracked.  When I turned on the other faucets I could see the winterizer coming out and I realized I didn't just have a water stain I had a winterizer stain. I have tried something called Resolve Triple Oxi Advanced and that has gotten some of it out but not a lot. Anyone have any ideas of what if the best cleaner to use on this stain?

You might try contacting the company and see if they have any recommendations.

Go to an auto parts store (Auto Zone, Napa etc) and get a spray can of "Lifter 1" Carpet Stain remover. Its in a blue can, kind of hard to find, but it really works.

I can emphasis with you. Mine also recently cracked, but fortunately the water ran into a sink drawer.

Can't help with the stain issue, but if you haven't replaced the filter cannister yet, I would suggest that you save yourself some consternation by not trying to get a replacement thru the manufacturer or RV dealer. I worked for two weeks trying to do it that way and finally gave up.

I removed the assembly and took it to Home Depot to ensure that the water line fittings of another brand would be compatable.  They were, I bought one (cheaper by the way), and had it installed in 30 minutes.  The only difference was that I had to put four screws in a different location that the original mount.

My only regret is that I should have thought of that in the first place.

Good luck.

I got a replacement filter canister from Camping World and had no problems.

Recently I've been using a stain removal product called "Kids & Pets".  It's worked well on carpet stains that I have.  I've found it at Walmart in the cleaning products aisle.

I don't know what it will do on Winterizing stain....but I use Shout exclusively on all stains around the place.  It does a great job on carpet...and later when you shampoo the carpet, you have no mis-colored spots.  I've used it on Day/Night shades, ceiling "carpet"..  upholstery, carpet floor mats.  It's just a "wonder worker".

Spray it on.... rub with rag or brush, let it dry.  No need to rinse.

Good Luck!!  smile
