Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Stan an MaryLou are about ready for the road

We are almost ready.  We won't be full timers, but half timers for now.  For a number of medical reasons, Lou can no longer take the cold.  For the winters and early spring we will be living in the RV, hopefully travelling for the most part, then back to Connecticut to enjoy the four kids, their spouses and the 9 grankids, soon to be 10.  Lou is upset as this will be the first time she won't be around for the birth.  This one is due on my birthday in December!smile

We will be travelling in our '99 Class C hauling our Tracker and will have a Ragamuffin cat, Mr. Bow Jingles and our Japanese Chin dog, Kieko.  We are long time campers, but now are looking for more than just weekending, since we are both retired.  Hope to see you guys down the road.

Seems a bit overwhelming.  We've got to close up the house; no electricity, no water, no cable.  Then to figure out what we take and what we leave, that'll take a lot of time.  I'm still putting together documents we will need to take.  I'll scan that stuff and put it all on a flash drive.  We have set up all of our bills on line so we are good there.  Right now, it is all the little things that have to be done around the house to get it ready for 6 months dormancy.

Yes it's exciting. Just a word of caution, don't store important documents on a flash drive. You can put them on a flash drive for temp storage, but if you need long term storage burn them to a CD or hard drive. Hard drives and flash drives will fail eventually. Always make multiple backups...computer hardware always fails at the worst possible time.

The records will be on my hard drive and also a CD. I've always had good luck with them, but I do know of others who have not. I take their warnings seriously. Thanks all for words of encouragement.

We will be heading out the end of August from CT to Ballston Spa, NY and Horseheads, NY for a quick visit with family.  Then we head out to Chicago, IL where we will pick up the old Route 66.  We will head east again, stopping along the way to visit friends and relatives in AZ, TX, MS and FL.  We have a timeshare in Orlando for the 3d week in January an a couple of the kids and grandkids will meet us there.  We'll prolly stay in FL for the rest of the winter and then slowly head back to CT as the temps warm.  I guess we will pretty much be chasing temperatures.  That sounds like it would be great pastime and hobby - chasing temperatures.smile

It reminds me of the surfing movie that came out in the mid 60's, Endless Summer. I was about 10 years old when I saw it and have fantasized since to chase my dream forever. Sounds like RV'ing is the best way to do it.
Wow, did I just show my age, yikes!cry

I saw that movie.  Since I am only 39 and celebrating my 21st anniversary of my 39th birthday......   Oh, what the hell.  I really don't mind being 60.biggrin  I'm really looking forward to this trip and not being in New England for the cold weather and snow.  I know we will will hit cold weather at night on our trip across America, but that will be ok by me.  It gives me a really good excuse for snuggling up to MaryLou.wink
