Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Dimensions, descriptions, and definitions

We have pretty much decided that a motorhome is best for us.  We're doing this on a budget - so we're looking at used rigs and have 3 in mind right now but we're having trouble with dimensions, descriptions, and definitions.

We lived over 2 years on a 200 sq foot houseboat, the "house" dimensions were about 10' x 20'.  It wasn't spacious, but we managed even with the space and layout limitations.

Now we are looking at two 36' motorhomes with with a single slide (living/dining) and nice layouts and a 34' Rex Air "wide body".   The galley and head on the Rex Air are wonderful, and the bed is a walkaround king.  We have talked to the owner of the Rex Air but he wasn't sure of the width.

All things considered - they are 97/98.  The Rex Air and one of the motorhomes with slide are low mileage.  The galley on the Rex Air is wonderful, the one on the low mileage motorhome is nice too - the other motorhome not great.  Food and cooking are my passions so galley is important.  We're also traveling with 4 small dogs and a cat so space is important.

So now we're wondering what "wide body" means?  Does it mean difficulty in parking, handling?   We're in North Dakota, the Rex Air and the other low mileage motorhome (make unknown at the moment) are in California and we can have good friends look at them.  Both of these are tag axel models.  The other ( Winnebago Adventurer) is in South Dakota - and we are hoping to go see it this next weekend.   In the meantime we're wondering if the slide is worth the extra 5 to 7K.  Any thoughts or information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Most Rv's are 96" wide when closed, with the maximum width by federal regulation being 102". So probably wide body refers to 102"

Thanks!  I'm not sure 6" is really all that much with no slide.   Now it's "decisions, decisons, decisions"!
