Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We're getting closer every day.

Alrighty,

We're considering a few "new to me" (used) motorhomes.

A couple of the units are in less than pristine condition to say the least, but with some elbow grease and some duct-tape and WD-40, I'm pretty sure they could be made road worthy.

Ok, to the detail...
Where on Gods green earth does one find slide out motors?
I mean, I find grease, lube, runners for the carpet, fancy jacks to hold 'em up, but, really, there has to be a source for the 12 volt motor, eh?

It can't be some kind of gov't secret can it? I've just used over a gig crawling all over "rv parts" catalogs, and unless I want doggy diapers, they do seem a bit worthless to us with a pair of pliers and good intentions.

No, I don't know the model of the motor, I don't know even what unit its going into, I just want to get some general "repair" prices before I consider pulling the trigger.

thanks,
Paul & Rosa

Help?

I would imagine that you get supplier information from the manufacturer of the particular brand you purchase. I don't believe there are standard motors for this application.

If the manufacturer is out of business, then the next best thing would be to post the specific question to technical RV forums, like RV.Net and Escapees.

As a ball park figure, we paid about $400 for a replacement slide motor for our
Carriage Cameo.

Good luck,

You will most likely need to contact the manufacturer if there is one. The motorhome slide can be electric or hydraulic...if an older MH most likely electric. You might also contact the chassis maker of the motorhome....they should be able to at least lead you to the correct source.
