Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

What is it used for?

I brought a portable waste water blue boy tank the other day. It came with this bent metal do-dad or maybe it's a thing-ma-jig, either way I don't know what it is used for. Any ideas?

While I don't have a Blue Boy tank, I am guessing here.  But, could it be that the "what-cha-ma-call-it" is used to attach the tank to your tow vehicle for towing to a dump station.  It is hard for me to tell its exact configuration from the side view that you posted.

Anyway, I would image the "experienced" RV'ers on here will be able to tell you for sure.

However, if that is what it is, I would worry a little bit about towing a Blue Boy very far and very fast.  Especially considering the small wheels on the Blue Boys.

It's not the towing, we got that piece and was able to figure it out. This thing has pointed ends that leads me to believe that it could be pushed into the ground.

yes, it looks like a Barker tank but I don't think any of those pieces match what I have.

Although I do not have a clue as to what the doo-dad-thingie is, we did see some folks towing a blue tank very slowly and carefully to a sewer dump while at Double Lake recently.  I think the trick in pulling it behind the TV is very slowly and carefully.  I do not know that I would want to try it... worry.gif

Okay... here's my guess.... Could it be used to hold one end of the tank up, so that the waste collects on the opposite end of the hole?

It would help if you mentioned how big it is. Is this thing only a few inches in size or much larger.
I see this as being a game that Howard and Linda can use for their next rally 'Guess the watcha-ma-call-it' where people bring in things and the audience tries to guess its function!

It looks to me that it's used for stablelizing the tank when you tsand tank on end with wheels off the ground.
 The curled end could fit between the axle and tank. Then when you dump the contence the tank can stand upright.

Dreaming and doing the homework necessary.

Looking at:
F-350/Ram 3500 type truck, possibly an Airstream or a smaller 5th Wheel.

However, there is still time to change the configuration, just a plan.

I actually got the campground involved with identifying this dohicky. The old man in site 103 that never wears a shirt or shoes assured me it's for skinning catfish but that whole conversation could start another post.

My best guess is that it is used to help level the tank.
