Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello everyone! We are just starting to plan for full-timing in an RV in 1 to 2 years, when we will be returning to the US after cruising the world in our sailboat. We have so many questions for all of you!We believe that we have the lifestyle part pretty well covered. We’ve been on-the-road, so to speak, for a number of years. We know how to live with generators, solar energy, propane, holding tanks and are used to fixing things. We know how to be together 24/7, bank on-line, communicate with family, and we enjoy the freedom to go wherever we want, pretty much whenever we want (weather permitting). We have enjoyed reading the journals, blogs and forums and are looking forward to becoming a part of the RV family. We can't wait for that new chapter in our retirement dream. Now we have many financial considerations and decisions to make.I will post our specific questions on the Money Forum, so I don’t mess up the introduction forum. Thanks in advance for any and all feedback! - Mike and Linda
Bring on those questions. The friendly folks here will do their best to answer them for you.
Good luck with your plans,
Jim

indeed welcome... always thought that when my DW and i finished RV'ing sailing might be next... look forward to meeting you on the road some day and chatting...
I'm sure you'll do just fine fulltiming on the road instead of the sea's!! I was lucky enough to do a 2 year stint on my 30' Express Cruiser on Lake Washington, while I was working in Seattle. Had a Catalina 22 back in the 80's also, so I know a little about the fun you're having on you're world adventure. Stay safe, fresh breezes and smooth sailing! Maybe we'll see you on the road in a few years.
Hi Travelingdog. We are just in the process of going the other way. We have been full timing it for over 10 years, and will be casting off in our sailboat in about 2 months. We already have some experience with off shore sailing, so it will not be a rude awakening for us. The full time RV lifestyle is definitely a great lifestyle also. I know you are going to enjoy it a lot. If you are in the area there will be an RV lifestyles seminar happening in Kelowna British Columbia in June. http://www.okanagan.bc.ca/Page17208.aspx This is a great place to go and find out everything that there is to know about RV'ing. This seminar happens every year. I am one of the teachers at the seminar again this year. I am doing seminars on satellite TV and Satellite internet, as well as a basic full time and advanced full time RV'ing course. Enjoy.
Yes, I started my website when we began our sailing adventure in early 2005. We started in California, spent a year sailing in Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama. We went through the Panama Canal to the Caribbean, then crossed the Atlantic in May 2008. Since then we've cruised Portugal, Gibraltar, Spain, France, Corsica, Sardinia, Tunisia, Sicily, and Italy. This December we will return to the Caribbean after spending these next 7 months cruising the Italian coast, more of Corsica and Sardinia, Menorca, Mallorca, Ibiza, Morocco, the Madeira Islands, and Canary Islands. Since I don't have unlimited internet access, I'm trying to begin my RV research now. I can do a little at a time. Our website is www.svaquila.com. Thanks for your interest! -Mike and Linda
WOW, that's quite an adventure you've been on! Moving to an RV will be a piece of cake, but might seem anti climactic after where you've been and all that you have seen.
Thanks, Fred. We are beginning to feel ready for something anti-climactic! And actually, we just love being on the road and enjoying nature. We used to camp and backpack quite a bit. And we've got a lot of the good ol USA we still want to see. -Linda
Hi there. That was always my husbands dream to sail around the world in a sail boat, but that was not for me so we bought a motor home and worked at home in Canada, and traveled the states in the winter. You will have no trouble with full timing if you lived on a boat all that time. We are packing to head south in a few weeks, but because we have to be back in Canada for 6 months we will travel here the summers. Good luck on your new endeavor.
