Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Fifth Wheel Hitch

We have our truck and are looking for a 5th wheel.  Have still have to get the hitch installed.  Was wondering if anyone out there had any experience the the "Air Safe" hitch.  I believe it is manufactured in Orlando, FL - at least that's where the dealer is.

Thanks, Bob & Judy

5 yrs with the Air Safe. wouldn't use anything else. Been Mexico to Alaska, Washington to Georgia
never had a bottle break or a chair flip over.
It makes hitching and unhitching so easy. no longer have to worry about site level or does the truck angle match the trailer. Just back in nice and slow and "click" your done. none of this "slam it ,damn it"
some times it can get mesmorising watching the trailer "float" as you tow down the road.
also fun to watch people stare as they pass you.

Barney

Thanks so much for the reply!  You will make my DH's day.  He thinks he is sold on the Air Safe hitch but thought he might need a user's testimony before he did something stupid.

Speaking of hitches, does anyone have any experience with a Curt 5th wheel hitch?

Had to go to their web site, I like this set up. Doesn't show a WD version. Unless I got in a hurry (probable) and didn't look far enough. Will search this again.

believe it is refering to a "Weight Distributing" style of hitch used to pull conventional trailers.

We don't have the air safe but do have the air box. We looked at the air safe and really considered it but we found a 5er 120 miles from home and Orlando is 500 miles away. However, our rv was 2 years old and the dealer had the hitch that was taken off the truck that had pulled this RV when he traded for a MH. He offered it to us at a price we couldn't turn down and decided to just try it. Works great. You really don't know the RV is back there.
