Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Can't Stop the Sun!

Why do I feel like this transition started years ago; like maybe the day I was born?  This full time RV living idea rose up in my mind on my 52nd birthday (that was this past Monday btw), but I don't think I could stop it from becoming my reality any more than I could stop the sun from rising!  It feels so-o-o right to me.  And finding this community is like discovering the planet I was meant to live on.  Am I being too dramatic?  (That's not really my style but I'm so excited)!  I trust I don't have to apologize because I think all of you already "get it".    But I'm sure looking forward to getting to know each of you better as my journey continues.  Please forgive the mistakes I'm bound to make while I get my RV dream legs. smile

You're right...we do all "get it".   I remember feeling much the same way when I stumbled upon the website last year.  Now we're just a couple of months from starting our new lives as fulltimers.  It's been an amazing transition and I don't think we could have done it without the help of this group.  As you'll quickly find out, everyone is more than willing to assist in anyway possible.

Welcome!

-Connie

Dawn,

Welcome to the club.

After looking at your website I can understand why your post is so upbeat.

It's an exciting lifestyle and looks to be a perfect fit for your seminar/sessions.

Travel and teach what a way to see the country.

Happy Birthday.

Good Luck

I've been visiting friends and family in Georgia, but I can hardly wait to get back, start sorting and getting rid of "stuff", put our house on the market (never thought I'd do that!), research RVs, etc.  I can tell from some of the posts that getting a house sold is a huge delaying factor.  I admit I'm praying for supernatural help on that front.

Welcome to this site Dawn and your family! This is one fantastic website and If you visit the Dreamers site you will get much useful information on the RV lifestyle. I hgave only bee here about a month after finding it through Workamper News. Check that one out too! I had a back injury in 1985 and couldn't even lift a 10# bag and put it in the trash. In 1992 went to a Pain Managemnet center in Colchester, Vermont. After learning many of the techniques they inspired for me to try and the help of the meditations and yes I had to learn how to do that to. I have gained most of my daily activities and capabilities back and I am 25 yrs older, or should I say bolder. Lovin the Rv life!

Welcome!! This is a wonderful place to make friends and learn about the lifestyle. We started full-timing in August and can say it is worth all the effort to get here. It is a wonderful lifestyle. It didn't come easy for us and our house was the hardest thing to deal with. We finally sold.....something I had almost given up on. I say that so you will realize that it WILL happen. While your house is on the market you will have plenty to keep you busy. The time will pass quickly.

Stay on the forum and read folks journals.....we have all been in your shoes. We are here for you. :)

Welcome to the forum. biggrin

Don't' worry about mistakes while you are on this site. All the folks here have gone through, or are going through, the process of becoming RVers and hopefully Full-timers.

If you can't find the answers to your questions by doing a search of the site, be sure to ask. Everyone here is very friendly and will help if they can.

Good luck,

Jim

Welcome Sunriser!  You are right... everyone on here "gets it"!  One of my favorite quotes is:

"For those that believe, no explanation is needed.
For those that do not, no explanation will suffice."

So very true!

(BTW... I cannot remember who said this so if anyone knows, please tell me!)

You folks are killing me! smile.gif I can't get rid of my house fast enough though I "get" that there's plenty to do in the mean time and I'm hard at it! Realtor coming today, getting some minor repairs done on the house. Also trying to sell a timeshare which I can't imagine I'll ever want to use again! Plenty to do. But I'm so-o-o motivated I can hardly stand it!

Welcome Sunriser! We too are in the can't wait until the house sells to hit the road. We are getting rid of stuff and more stuff and more stuff... It goes on and on. This rat race we have called life has come to a time to change. We need to start living for our selves and not more stuff. We are so motivated also but the housing market for a $700,000.00 house is real slowwww. We are praying every day to get free from the "RAT RACE". Good luck to you and we hope to see you and your family down the road!

Kerri,

The quote is a paraphrase of another comment.  In essence, the quote as you posted it twice leaves out two words...."in God".

The German author Franz Werfel wrote the line in the prologue to his book, "The Song of Bernadette," published in 1941.  The book was later made into an award winning movie by the same name.

His original statement, translated from German would be, "For those that believe in God, no explanation is necessary; for those that do not believe in God, no explanation is possible."

While I am not pleased that "in God" was removed, the quote as you wrote it still rings of truth.

Terry
