Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Ordering new furniture . . .

Has anyone heard of or done business with www.discountrvfurniture.com? They are located in AZ. We are contemplating replacing our two captain's chairs and sofas. I've called and got a quote and they ship anywhere.

Just wondering about the quality. We have an older motorhome and I've never cared for the upholstery altho' it's still in great shape. Ready for a change but hesitating.

Any help very much appreciated.

Sharon

Can't comment on this company particularly, but would mention that many Rv'ers we know have replaced the furniture that came with their rig with furniture from Lazy Boy. I will attest personally that it is extremely comfortable and appears to be very well made. Howard and I have been sleeping on them for years now. smile.gif

Lazy Boy is retailed all around the country and can be found in most metropolitan areas.
That would seem to me to be a safer bet than ordering from an unknown mail order company.

Good luck,

Fred

Thanks Fred for responding. I did think about Lazy Boy and Ikea but 2 of the items that I would like to replace are the captain chairs - driver's and nagivator's seats - that's not a spelling error - that's how he refers to me hmm

I'm sure it's going to cost more but that's why I was looking at an RV company.

Thanks again!

Have you checked out www.bradandhall.com for the flexsteel captain/co-captain chairs for your motorhome? They, many times, have great close out sales. You might want to give them a look. They are a company that is well thought of and respected in the RV community.

We looked at replacing our sofa with a Lazy-Boy but we found that the only ones that have removeable backs are the sofas that recline. They have high backs that cover a large part of the window. We decided to get a Lazy-Boy recliner instead and one day MIGHT remove the sofa altogether and put the recliner in that position along with another console/computer table.

Good luck on your search. Keep us updated....even a few pics would be nice when you are finished.

We are thinking seriously about getting rid of our sleeper sofa and replacing it with two casual chairs. We don't have any sleep overs and the sofa we have does not sit good anyway.

We did exactly that Joe, put in 2 really comfortable Lazy Boys and some book cases and storage cabinets and haven't regretted it for a moment. And it doesn't look like a standard RV anymore.

I agree with you Joe!! I love my new Lazy-Boy and I can watch TV without a crick in my neck. I can so see us getting rid of the sofa in the near future. Its all about comfort and what works.

I was thinking about ordering from there too but have the same questions as you! Did you find any answers? I am going to remove my dinnette and replace it with a leather double recliner and replace my sofa with a leather sofa flip down. Would love to hear if you ordered and how you made out!

Thanks Betsy

I figured I would add to this for those just needing good captains chairs. I just replaced ours in our Roadtrek and am very happy with them! You can check out the pics on our blog here http://www.vantramps.com/2010/05/progress-seats-and-floor-are-in.html

The came from http://www.discountvantruck.com/

I will have to check out that other source to see how we did with our deal :)

Interesting! The site I just posted and the one listed above are probably the same company just marketing to a different audience! So it would seem my experience with buying from them relates :) The seats I bought were named differently on this site, but the options and style etc was identical. They translate to the "Deleon". On the van and truck version of the site, they were called Empress LT. All the available options and shipping details etc were all the same exactly. They did ship them exactly when they said at 4 weeks and 3 days from the order being placed. They came in well packed and were exactly as ordered. They are very comfortable and great quality from my limited experience so far. Hope that helps anyone considering ordering from these folks!

Well.... we did finally muster up the courage and got rid of that RV sofa. It was getting old and very uncomfortable. Nobody ever wanted to sit on it. It is now gone and we have two very comfortable LazyBoy recliners and a wicker/wood storage chest from Pier 1. I really like the new look and just like Fred said earlier...it doesn't have the same ole RV lok any longer. More practical. :)

If you would like to see pictures take a look at our blog and the post under A Purchase from Pier 1.

We haven't use a sofa in years. We have Lazy Boy Love seat (re-cline away) and a Lazy Boy recliner. Our 5th wheel only sleeps 2, the kids and grandkids use the nearby hotels and motels. Our last 5th wheel we deleted all the funiture. We have never been able to find good lght comfortable RV funiture. In the past we always just gave it away. We also have all Lazy Boy funiture in our stick house. The Lazy boy couch has two recliners and we have the Lazy Boy Love seat and recliners. Never have had a issue. When we travel we never have to secure either piece of Lazy Boy funiture. Good Luck with you choice. GBY....
