Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I would like to join the 2011 class...though "offically" I will start full time this Tues - 12/21/2010...but I wont be staying in an RV park full time until Feb 2011 - I will be staying with family during the holidays, but living in the RV parked next to their house!

I just thought I'd update our situation, since things have changed a bit. We decided to keep our house, and become "anytimers." I turned in my retirement paperwork and will officially retire from teaching on June 2, 2011. Our first big trip is to Alberta, British Columbia, and the Yukon - and it's possible we'll continue on into Alaska. Right now we're consumed with the planning since it's so fresh in our minds. You know, the maps, the books, the internet sites, etc. But now instead of being full-timers, we'll be coming home to our cabin in the mountains, where we really do like living when we're not in the trailer. We just refinanced it, too - knocking $400 off the monthly payments, and therefore making traveling a whole lot more affordable!
WOW,,, in Feb 2010 I stated I was hoping to be full time in early 2011. We are still in the house but had a offer yesterday. A little to low so we countered. Realtor said she would probably talk with us Sunday due to the holiday. they want to close in 2 weeks!! Cash sale.... maybe if they accept the counter we will make early 2011 yet.
I put up our first post yesterday in "Introduce Yourself". We will be heading out April 1, 2011. We will look forward to meeting some of you at the rally. The class of 2011 should keep in touch. Good luck and safe travels.

Our situation has changed......as was so well put..."man plans and God laughs".
We are not going to Florida at this time after all. Got to deal with some immigrations stuff then we will be clear. However we are going to the rally in April and I hope that will be our jumping off point. I am so excited to say ......I will be full time this year.
Only 97 day 23 hours and 51 minutes to go.

Yippee! Looks like we will be joining the class of 2011. For the full store you have to go back to May 2010 on my blog. As you read forward, you can get a sense of the excitement we've experienced. My retirement from my day job does not free me completely as I still have an adjunct assignment to complete. Looking forward meeting many of you on the road.

We are in the class of 2011. If all goes as planned, we will be on the road come June. Looks like we won't have to bother with a realtor. We might have the house sold without putting it on the market.
We are very excited and looking forward to our fulltiming life.
We officially go on the road March 27, 2011. family along the east coast until the Rally, then head north to Michigan for our first workamping job over the summer. We're currently peppering Florida with applications for a winter job. I've sent emails to Amazon, but no response yet...maybe too early? If we work at Amamzon for Christmas shipping season, we *might* be able to goof off a little more for the winter . So excited!!!!
We will leaving our jobs in Albuquerque on April 1. About the 4th or 5th we will start heading toward Tennessee for the Rally. From Tennessee we will explore the Natchez Trace Parkway and then we are going to the Workamper Rendezvous in Heber Springs Arkansas. From Arkansas it's back to the west and jobs at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon starting May 8 until October 20. Sherri and I hope to meet many Class of 2011 RVers along the way.

I'm hoping to be 2011, but it will most likely be 2012 or later. All depends on how long it will take to sell the house, as we need the proceeds to buy the RV and TV. Right now we're in the process of fixing up the house (haven't done any work for 20 years, so it needs a lot of aesthetics). Since we don't have lots of funds to hire contractors, we're doing most of it ourselves, room by room, so when the house is ready to go on the market, and then how long it will take to sell will determine when we can hit the road.
We missed out on the Spring rally but do plan to be at the Fall rally in Hershey, PA in Sept. Hope to meet many of you there!

We are in the same situation as Cheryl, having now needing to fix up the house after 20 years! Linda's last day at her "regular" job was March 31, 2011, and now she's working on the house instead. If all goes well, and the house sells this year, we too will be in the Class of 2011! Wow - it's exciting to see that in writing! We already have our motorhome and toad, and someone Jim works with might be interested in buying our house, so fingers are crossed! Either way, we'll be at the Fall Rally in Hershey.
