Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

DirectTV in Alaska?

We are planning on spending next summer in Alaska and I got curious.  Will my Direct TV dish work in Alaska?  We have a small dish and a Monosat auto-alignment unit.
thx...

It's funny, but neither of us remember whether we did or not, but I've come to the conclusion that we did, because I'm sure I'd remember if we went 5 months without TV. smile.gif

I'm sure that someone with a fully functioning memory will weigh in on this.

Just went to Directv.com and looked up retailers in Anchorage, AK. There are about 10 retailers in Anchorage. Must have service up there.

I was told that in Alaska they use larger dishes than the lower 48. We use one of the oval dishes on a tripod. Our DirectTV stopped working past Calgary. We just suspended our account for the 5 months we were gone.

We watched either park cable or local TV of the batwing while in Canada and Alaska.

By the way none of the DirectTV 800 numbers work in Canada so if you wait until you cross the boarder you will need the help of someone in the USA to communicate wiht DirectTV.
