Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We arrived here in Rusk yesterday afternoon. Our 5er was here waiting for us! Our salesperson came and did the orientation. The rest of the evening was spent transferring stuff from "The Duck" to our new 5er. After a restful slumber our first night in our new home, we awoke to a heavy frost. All was well, we were snug as bugs and nothing frozen.
Dave obligingly went cycling for about 3 hours while I set up the 5er. Worked my you-know-what-off, lining drawers and shelves, unpacking, sanitizing the tanks, cleaning our old travel trailer, etc. Was busy all day but lovin' it. Grilled burgers this evening and now just back in from sitting around the fire since about 6 PM.
It's like a planitarium outside...stars from one horizon to the other. I'll give up the pool table at home to live in places like this.
It's an early rise in the morning for about an hour's drive to the dealer to give them "The Duck" and have the receiver installed in the truck for the 5er. The rest of the day will be devoted to resting, taking photographs, grilling again for dinner and another fire in the evening. A play day before we hit the road home on Tuesday with me towing this big beast.
Positive vibes for good weather Tuesday would be appreciated.
We love our new home, and it truly feels like a home to us already. It has a good feeling about it. Dave said he's ready to start living in it! Well, give us another year and we'll be at that point!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
Cheers, Betty
Addendum: We're back from RV Station in Nacogdoches. Receiver installation went just fine. Had our few questions answered. Practiced towing and backing in their lot with their assistance. They said I did great! Dead on to the kingpin on the first attempt hitching. Backing seems a lot easier than a bumper pull. They were having their Christmas party today and we were invited to stay for Mexican buffet lunch! Didn't have to twist my arm too hard on that one!
Thanks again, Charlie, for steering us to RV Station. Can't say enough good things about those folks.
Just up from a wee nap; Dave is still konked out. We're just chilling out until the morning. It's been a whirlwind working trip so we figure we deserve the rest of today to kick back.

As long as you don't hang around until Wednesday - storms (possibly tornadic) forecast for East TX and Louisiana/Arkansas Wed. afternoon
Betty & Dave congrats on picking up the new 5er. Best wishes on the way home, keep us informed on how things are progressing thru out the next year. Hope to meet you guys out on the road someday, who knows maybe at a future dreamer rally. It'll be at least a year probably 2 before we are able to get out there more than just weekends. Good luck
