Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Coming out of lurking!

Hello everyone,
I've been lurking around on the RV Dreams site for a few months off and on, and realized today that it's time to come out and say hello. Here's what prompted this action. I had bookmarked a few RV Forums, and by mistake today I opened a different one (RV Dreams is by far my favorite). As soon as I opened the page, I noticed it didn't look warm, inviting or optimistic like RV Dreams does! I left the other site and came to this one, and felt a surge of gratitude for all of you guys.

I have never owned an RV, nor even taken a real vacation in one. My first and only memories of being in one was when I was a teenager and I got to ride in my cousin's truck camper, on our way to Disneyland. It was such fun and left an impression on me!!

I am currently planning a life of full time RVing, and hope to be doing so within a year- two on the outside. How do I know I will love it? I am absolutely positive, since I am a 'nester', who loves my home, yet am an absolute vagabond at heart, and have traveled since I was a child. I see RVing as being able to live both of these lives at the same time! My husband and I are currently building a flexible, work from home business to support this goal, and as soon as it is solid enough we will be ready to buy our RV, travel, and pursue more of our artistic nature. (I'm an artist and my husband is a photographer, and the traveling will help give us endless subjects to paint/photograph.)

Thanks to all of you for your honest insights and sharing on this wonderful forum. That RV Expense Spreadsheet is especially helpful for planning. I appreciate being able to get a preview into the joys, challenges and everyday reality of RVing; as well as the tips you give each other. Love your stories on how you transitioned or plan to, as I don't feel so alone-- I don't personally know anyone who has done what we're about to do.

Thanks for reading to my lengthy intro here, as I share my own full time RV dream/plan in public for the first time. I look forward to future conversations, too.smile

Adventurekat,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for picking us as the ones to share your dreams with.

If you and your husband put your heads together, do your homework, find the right RV for you, and get your work worked out, I cant' think of any reason you can't make  the full-timing lifestyle work for you.

Take your time and have fun with your planning, and when you get out here on the road, look us up. smile

We'll be out here somewhere.

Jim

Welcome to the forum.smile

This is the best RV forum you will find. The people here really are warm and friendly. They are always willing to give their advise and help answer any question you might have. I have learned a lot from the people on this forum and I'm very proud to be a member.

kat you have a quote "I have never owned an RV, nor even taken a real vacation in one. " ... guess what sounds just like us... we plan on buying a motorhome in the next few months and hitting the road in March... we have absolutely NO CLUE what we are getting ourselves into... but! We will prevail and we will do it... you are not alone!

Well, let's hope that life is still good and all is okay with her, and hers. Wonder where she went?
