Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

handshake.gif I would like to do a forum that asks the question: How many ways are there that full-timers gain internet access other than Campground hardwire connections? Especially in remote rural areas and the dangers of wireless to personal and private information. Cooler here in VIRGINIA BEACH. 55 degrees and sunny.  I go full-Time January 1st 2010.

There are many topics under the "Technology on the Road" forum about internet access on the road. Basically there are three methods, public wi-fi (which is sounds like you think is much more dangerous than it is), cell phone internet, and satellite internet. I suspect if you read through posts under "Technology on the Road" you will find answers and after that you can add to one of the topics or start a new discussion in that forum.

We've been using public Wi-Fi or a wireless aircard for several years with no privacy breach.

We do our banking, online credit card purchases, and normal web surfing, we just make sure our firewall is on and when doing financial stuff we are on a secure network.

Beside, if someone stole our identity it may be a blessing, I'm sure they couldn't spend as much as my DW does each month.

As you will see in the Technology on the Road forum, many of the fulltimers are using some form of cellphone internet or the campground provided Wi-Fi.

For the very remote camping areas, satellite may be needed.
