Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I’ve been meaning to introduce myself sooner, but time just passes way to quickly!I stumbled upon this site a couple of months ago and was thrilled to find so many kindred souls. So much of what I read is like reading about my own life, thoughts and dreams.Who are these people who are so much like me??!I don’t know but I’m eager to get to know them, so here I am.
Let me do a quick introduction. My name is Connie and my partner Tracy and I have been dreaming of full-timing for the last 5 years when we were lucky enough to experience a 3-month RV vacation. We always thought it would have to wait for retirement, but over the last few years we’ve gone from a 20-year plan, down to a 10-year, then a 5-year and now we’re on the 1-year path! We’re no longer wannabes, we’re gonnabes and have set our target date for July 1, 2010 (or maybe sooner)!
We are excited, but also very scared. We still have so much to learn and so many questions, so I hope to be actively posting, but I will definitely be actively reading. And we are excited to report that we are planning to attend this year’s rally and plan to sign up within the next couple of days.So I look forward to meeting some of you in person too! Thanks not only to Howard and Linda, but to all of you for making this such a welcoming community!!
Thank you for the warm welcomes! I am pleased to announce that we registered yesterday for the Rally. So we are official. My only fear in attending is that we'll want to start fulltiming immediately, which will make the next 9+ months excrutiating! :)
Welcome Connie and Tracy, You have found the best forum with the best folks in the RV world. We will be starting our fulltime adventure August 14th - NEXT FRIDAY!!!!! Our journey to this point began about 4 years ago so we understand the wait and how hard it is. We will be at the rally so we'll talk. The time will go by faster than you think and there are tons of things you can be doing to get ready that will make you feel proactive and not just sitting and counting days. Hang in there and do lots of reading and asking questions. RVers are the friendliest folks around. See you soon.
Mike and Gerri ~ next Friday, WOW! How exciting! Congratulations!! I'm sure the time does pass quickly and our goal is to accomplish at least one thing each week toward our agenda, no matter how minor. It does help make us feel like we're making progress, albeit very slowly sometimes. Look forward to meeting you at the Rally and hearing how your first 2 months have been! Good luck on your departure; I'll be (enviously) thinking of you!
Hello Connie & Tracy, We to are gonna-bes! Sooner than imagined. I also find it a little scary at times. It is a major change in life style. But so looking forward to less stress and the adventures to come. Everyone we have talked to, and everything we have read, show that there are no regrets. I myself have dreamed about it for several years, especially after reading the diary of Sybil Leek, where she lived with gypsies as a child in the British Isles. Then when I became ill, it looked as a way to still enjoy life as much as possible without the burdens of up keeping a home in the rural backwoods mountains of Pennsylvania. Sure, we will miss the beauty, serenity and our few close friends and family, but we feel and think it is better for us in mind, body and soul. "Less is More". Ann and Don
