Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Working Toward Simplicity & Mobility

My name is Terry and my wife is Elizabeth.  We have four kids – two boys (17 & 15) and two girls (13 & 11).  We moved down to Georgia a few years ago from upstate NY.  We had a very large house with a lot of land and we were treading water when it came to maintenance (time & money) and taxes.  We were looking for something simple in GA but ended up getting something bigger than expected (though much easier to maintain) because we had to fit a family of six.  This is a very busy period in our family as we are part of six individual schedules.  We see the physical, mental & spiritual benefits of simple living with fewer attachments and are working toward this.

I often kidded about living on a boat when the kids were gone and my wife finally said, “Why not?”  We’ve been trying to simplify and that is part of the attraction.  The other is mobility and a desire to travel.  We looked into it and realized that it wasn’t for us (expense and experience) but the bug was caught – simplify and mobility.

We’ve always enjoyed camping and we know people who have successfully lived in an RV full-time for a few years, so it seemed like a natural fit.  At this point, we are researching.  I am hoping to get a smaller fifth wheel for my Ford F150 and use it to gain experience and to test the waters.  At this point, I know next to nothing.  I’m getting a book out of the library and hope to be a sponge for the next few years.

I will probably be more of a lurker for awhile but will try to join in when I can.

Terry and Elizabeth...you have come to the right place. This forum unlike so many is a family of Dreamers...people like yourselves that want to do the fulltime thing in the future...those that have laid the foundation and are about to jump in the water...and those that are in the pool splashing around. Lurking here will answer many of your questions and reading the journals so many of us have will give you and idea of what fulltime living is all about. Howard and Linda have the greatest story and their web site provides folks with soooo much information about this life style. Please feel free to join in and spend time with us here. We welcome your input on ideas of preperation as you make you plans. Thanks for signing in and we hope to hear from you in the future

Ditto on what Speedy said...we are a friendly bunch. As you begin to read the forum you will have questions so be sure to ask...we all went through the same thing...and knowledge is the key to success.
