Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

The signs out front, here we go!

The house is listed, and a for sale sign has found itself a new home next to my mail box.  I am sad, and excited at the same time after 24 years in it.  It's kind of like fishing, now we get to wait and see if we get any bites.  Wish us luck.  I will work on the motorhome tomorrow to remind myself why I am doing this. smile

Best of luck, Greg and Lynn,

There are many emotions that you go through in the process of going Full-timing. Putting the house up for sale is just one of them. At times you may question your sanity, at other times it's so exciting that you can hardly believe it.

Good Luck,
Jim

I like your comments, "Its like fishing, we will wait to see if we get any bites".

We have been fishing but and just keep pulling up the hook and the bait is gone! So we keep putting new bait on the hook.

Hope to hook a buyer shortly now that the market is starting to return a little around here.

I have had many emoticons even after selling our home. It was like leaving a long friend the day we pulled away and right now I would LOVE to have it back again. Yes, we do have some regrets in going full time. Now we are looking for property again in New Mexico.
However, I do wish you the best in selling it. Sometimes this life of full timing isnt for everyone.

Good Luck!!  Our bait has been out for about 2 weeks now, with no bites yet (a few nibbles = drive-by's).  We hope they start swimming around soon, but are comfortable with the fact that it could take awhile.

I'm familiar with the mixed feelings . . . we built this house 11 years ago, and I love it, but we want to get out on the road while the kids can still go with us!

Good Luck to everyone with a home for sale!

Awesome! Good for you! We love weekend RVing and camping, but we're still working full time so there's no way we can full-time RV. I'm jealous!

Congratulations. I think you picked the best time of the year to be selling in Tahoe. Here's hoping for a quick sale so you can get on the road of your dreams.

Sherri and I have been fulltime in our RV for Three years and we love every minute of it. We have kept up some outside interest to keep us from going mad. You don't want to just set around in your RV and do nothing. With the house you always have something to do so you need to develope that in your RV living also. Whether it is hiking or exploring museums you need to keep busy. Washing and waxing your RV will take the place of mowing the yard. Get some pot plants...light ones...HE HE so you can feed and water them...now you have a flower bed to take care of. All these things are important in fulltiming. Be sure you have some hobies too...you need to have somthing to take up that idle time...When you start really traveling and stopping at RV parks you will meet so many friends that have like interest and that will be something that you will really enjoy. If your not outgoing you need to start now. All these things will lessen the dependency of having a Stix and Brix that so many people develope over time.

Good luck

Joe and Sherri

Thanks to all for the support. Judy, I am sorry that fulltiming hasn't turned out to be your thing, but I am happy for you that you had a chance to experience the lifestyle. Sure takes care of a lot of "what ifs". Now you know the S&B is the way to go for you. Maybe we will see you on an extended weekend or a vacation.

John, small world. The wife and I very much enjoyed your mustache pics. Congrats on your upcoming retirement. I feel so blessed to have found the fire service early in my life. It is an honorable profession, and I have been very proud to be a part of it. I will be following your blog and will stay in touch. I would very much like to meet you and Bridget and tell war stories around the campfire. I am just starting my blog, and hope to have a link to it soon.

Thanks again to all. What a great site.

Well, it has been almost two moths and no contract yet.  We have had at least two dozen walk throughs, but as of yet no bite.  The realtor thinks $50k less would help. Good grief Charlie Brown.  Anyway, it looks like full timing might be put off for a bit.  Rotten timing for my retirement planning!

In this market I am not sure two months is all that long. We had our house on the market, on and off, for almost 3 years. We took it off the market during the winter a couple of times . We got a contract about a week ago for our asking price with us paying closing cost. Now I will say during the 3 years on the market we have reduced the price of our house considerably. All together it has been lowered about $30K but I believe our realtor had it priced too high in the beginning. I felt that way then and I still do. I would not give up quite so soon. Do a market analysis and see what houses like yours are selling for at this time in your area. In any case, hang in there and keep your dream alive and one day it will happen.

Congratulations Chief

You must be excited to just come this far.  We thought we would of had everything in our house ready to put on the market in May, but things just kept growing.  Like when you paint trim and it then needs it in another room, grows and grows.  We should of allowed extra time to get the house ready.

I am happy to say we are talking to 2 real estate agents next week about listing our house and hopefully will have a sign in the yard soon too.

Keep everyone informed on how it is going with you as we will too.

Mel

Just an update for those who have been following my post. I have come to grasp the idea that it may take longer than anticipated to sell the home, and I will wait to retire until the market comes back. However, I have the time at work and have decided to take two months off and head toward Disney World's FW and the daughter. I will take my time transiting the 2800 miles, probably 8-10 days in each direction, then spend at least a month in FL. Our adventure will start in early October and we will return home in mid-December. I will imagine that I am fulltiming for that time:)

I just read an article today that said the housing market has bottomed out and they are seeing signs of recovery. However, the unemployment rate continues to rise so don't expect a mad rush of buyers. But nonetheless it's some good news.

Have fun on your trip to Florida!  You can consider it a practice trip and will allow you to get the RV setup just the way you want it for when you do full time.

Good Luck with the sale of your home.

Chief, we have been on the market a week and nothing. The realtor has an open house scheduled for this Sunday. Keeping my fingers crossed. Will you make the Rally in Kerrville?

Stay Safe
