Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are hitting the road this fall and my husband would like to meet up with some other fulltimers that like to play guitar.... blues, old rock or old country. He is really going to miss his garage band We will probably be following some blues festivals. We just got back from Memphis and the IBC.....that was some great music!
Christy and Paul (monkey islanders)
Amber, Freddie, and Humphrey the canine companions
Does an air guitar count? Aw heck, I can't even play one of those! But I sure like to listen to you guys who have talent!!!! How about a jam session for all pickers and strummers at the RV Dreams rally?????
We stayed at Desert Trails in Tucson AZ this winter and there were quite a few people that [layed guitar. They would all get together and have a jam session twice a week and sometimes perform for the evenings entertainment. My guess is that you won't have any problems finding guitar players on the road.
I have a Taylor guitar and will be taking it with me when we go fulltiming.
I haven't had the time to learn how to play much of anything yet but am going to make it my goal to learn. I am from Kentucky and have always loved going to bluegrass festivals and listening to live music.
So....when we go fulltime, I am going to be watching out for festivals we can go to and stay in the rv.
Here is one that is located a short distance from my family farm in E. KY.
It is a huge event, 1400 acres and last 21 days. They have full hookups and primitive/boondocking. You can see it from interstate 64 way up on the hill:) My 78 year old Uncle goes every year and plays his fiddle and guitar.
Here is a website that talks about it: http://www.bluegrassfestivalguide.com/poppymtnfest.htm
They have their own website but I noticed it just expired. It will be up sometime soon.
Thanks to everyone who replied out there!! I know it will make him feel better to know his playing days are not over, he loves to jam with people. Looks like he can find guys to play with about anywhere!
Ourplan is to hit the road for good in late Sept. My husband plays and sings, even if there isn't an audience. LOL He's hoping to find some others to join him too. He is always a hit at the campgrounds we have visited. Mostly old country for him. Maybe we'll meet down the road.

That would be great! We should be leaving about the same time. Just getting the house on the market this month, but our market here is strong so I hope to sell in a couple of months. My husband is taking two guitars and an amp I keep telling him its all about the weight!!! I guess that evens out with my golden retreiver. I am going to have to get a hobby because he is going to be playing and fishing all the time! Keep in touch!
I never have time to play my bass. I'm hoping that on the road, i'll get that chance. I'll probably trade in my electric and pick up a good acoustic bass. It'll be fun to jam with other folks on the road.
If you're ever in the area, north central Arkansas, you might come to Mountain View, AR. There's music on the square every day & evening during the peak season, usually May thru October. Just musicians that love to pick and sing. Great place to visit if you're a music buff!

You found one! I play a 12-string dreadnaught Guild. And I am very happy being the rythum person. And yes I can sing, if I have to, I have a nasal hill-billy voice, which doesn't always work with all types of music. Taking my Guild was one of the stipulations of what goes when we started this adventure to become full time RVer's. At the present time we are still in PA getting ready for departure. The soonest we will be leaving will be after September 12th, 2009. Hopefully we will meet up on the road. A very good friend of mine is a Snowbird and spends the winters in FL. He plays guitar, mandoline and banjo extremely well, even though his hearing has deteriorated, he watches my hands and body to see when to stop playing . We are planning on joining up with him, hopefully this winter, so he can show us his Florida hotspots. He stays in a campground called Wildwoods in Aster Park. We use to have a porch band called the Calvert Calamity, we even got a few gigs at some local taverns. Their was 4 of us in the band, with a few alternates and add ons from time to time.

If you ever find yourself in north central Arkansas, you might want to visit Mountain View!! It's an "ole time pickin on the square" kind of place and lots of jam sessions! We're not musicians, but very much enjoy going to the square to listen. There is also the Ozark Folk Center that has lots of music. There's always someone looking for a jam. All day and evening from April til November. Lots of nice campgrounds, too. Ozark RV Park is a great place. Enjoy your adventures and be safe!
