Interesting. We paid 22/kwh for one of the months we were in AZ last year then when we went back to the park they had started including electric in the price. I had written him a nasty note when we left. He claimed that's what he was being charged. I think we made up for the amount of electric we were charged during the other months we stayed there though as we got a pretty good deal.

In the past it was not uncommon for Parks to mark up electric, over what they paid. Electricity became a profit center. Some states require that landlords only "pass on" actual costs. It is good to see AZ go to that rule. THanks for the posting...

In our park, Palm Creek in Casa Grande, AZ, if you are a "temporary" visitor (1 month or less) your electric is included in your rate. Up to five months the park adds the electric after they read your meter. After five months you are considered an "annual" and your electric bill comes directly from Arizona Power who reads your meter monthly. The total bills of our various neighbors seem to be in the same general range no matter who sends them. There is no actual "rate per kwh" listed on the bill, but it's about 10 cents per hour plus 13 more line items of services and taxes in addition.

Palm Creek is waaaay out of my price range...what would an average monthly electric bill run you. I have to take that into concideration when shopping camp grounds. I have to stay a month to get the better price but have to take into account the electric charges.

Good timing.....everyone's electric bills arrived in today's mail...for 33 days mid December to mid January...the average daytime temperature was 61* according to our bill...it was down in the low 30's at night...most of our neighbors use electric heat pumps and/or space heaters and one has one of those electric fireplaces. Those of us that also have laundry facilities in our coaches had a bill around $100. (It was a lot higher in October when we still needed the A/C!) Those with no washer ran about $75. (By the way, we averaged $16.07 a night for all of last year for camping fees including all electric charges)

I can't answer on AZ. but as a former CG owner from PA. we were not allowed to charge electric at a higher rate than what was charged to us. What we did though was add a .01 cent per K/H service charge. This hardly pays for the time to read and make up the bills in the CG.
As we sit here in FL. last months bill was around $75.00 which we felt was a good price. We run our refer on electric (which at a minimum is $20.00 per month) and we primary use the electric heating element in our Hydro-Hot for heat (until it gets below 38 degrees) and hot water. We are probably so-so about being fugal with electric.

On the surface, A.R.S. 33-2107, appears to limit the amount RV Parks, who charge electricity as a seperate item, can charge RV'ers. However, after doing some checking it seems the parks have managed to find a way around this new law.

I suspect some will see relief in their utility bill, but for the majority I doubt you will see any change.

Write your elected officials and let them know how disappointed you are in their handy work.

I stayed at Palm Creek for 3 weeks over Christmas (no A/C, electric hot water, small space heater at night). Power was $88. I then went to Benson, AZ for 3 weeks (same power useage) Power was $92. Not sure KWH rates used.
