Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

U.S. State to title & register R.V..?

Does anyone know:  Which State registers vehicles by internet & accepts P O Bx addresses?

Many people living on the road in their Recreation Vehicles Register in this state because they have no physical address as they travel and because they are not required to appear in person to initially register or to renew registration.

I saw this info about a year ago when I didn't need to know so I made no attempt to remember where I saw it.

Thanks in advance

Mickey

Hey Mickey:
You can rule out any state that has a vehicle inspection, you would be required to take the vehicle in to have it inspected to be able to have it registered in that state. I'm not sure what all your plans are but here's what I just recently did. I lived in Maryland when I started to go full time and I still use Maryland for my Home Domicile for convenience, but I just bought a newer motor home and I registered it in Montana under a Montana LLC through a attorney to avoid state sales tax and inspections. It was all done on line and over the phone. If you would be interested in something like this I could give you the name of the Law Firm that I went with. I'm sure there will be more folks help out here also. Gummy

Thanks for the reply and info. Gummy.  I will continue trying to locate the State that does it without the need for an Attorney but I will get back in touch with you if I fail to locate that State.

I just transferred my RV registration to Texas.  I use the SKP mail service so I have a Texas address.  I mailed them the forms and payment and received my plates right after I arrived in Benson.  Texas does require a vehicle inspection, but you don't have to get it done until you are actually in Texas, they give you 3 days to get it done.

I don't know of any states that will do it via email.

We have been registered in Florida for 10 years and use St Brendan Isle for our mail forwarder. We re-register via the web which FL allows. Florida has no income tax, insurance is a little higher than some states, but lower than others, and tags are cheap.

St. Brendan recently helped us out with passport renewals, and one time (many years ago) we mailed our cell phone to them, they took it to the FL local dealer and had it repaired, and send back to us.  They state in their web page that they will help you do the Florida registration. http://www.sbimailservice.com/rv-clients.htm

They have shipped mail and packages to us in 4 different countries, and most of the states without a hitch yet!

The RV Bookstore has a small, inexpensive book that tells about each state and the rules. This may be the way to go so you can evaluate which state is best for your needs.
