Just a opinion on the Grand Junctions, we were looking at them and they were on our short list. The price was within our means and I felt they were good quality, then we went to a lot with several there not one unit was without damage, the outside doors had been caught by the wind and fell apart, doors inside had come apart, drawers had came apart, and I'm not talking about vandanlizen. I was dissappointed, I'm not trying to push something else on you, but it sounds like you're looking at the same things we did and we ended up looking at the Heartland Bighorn, and buying it, it is comparable to the GJ and I feel like better quality. Again I have no first hand experince with the GJ, just what we saw on lots, we looked at alot of units and brands, however when you find the right one you'll know because all of a sudden that's what you compare everything else to.

Niles and Deb.... thanks for your thoughts on the Grand Junction. This is worrisome, because it probably means they will not hold up well on the road, especially during full timing.

I was really hoping some more folks who had actually owned the GJ would make some comments. Either no one on the forum has ever owned them -- or maybe the news is just too bad?

The Big Horn is one that we've been reviewing as well, so it's good to get your comments on it. We've been comparing most that we look at to the Carriage Cameo -- so maybe we need to look harder at that. We had pretty much decided to go with the Cameo, but can't buy until our house sells. So meanwhile we've been doing some more research.

There are over 1300 members, many of whom are full timers. It's a good way to see what Carriage owners think of their rigs. It's quit an active group.

We've been traveling in our Cameo for almost 3 years now and couldn't be happier with the quality of it. For maximum comfort, I would recommend getting the dual pane windows and astrofoil insulation.

We were at the Hershey RV Show as well. And I gotta tell ya, that for RV's in the mid range price point it would be hard to beat the quality of the Heartland product. We liked the Landmark, which is the top of their line. The price is comparable to the Cedar Creek but I can tell you that the quality beats Cedar Creek hands down (we know because we own a Cedar Creek). The Cedar Creek is not a bad unit but if I were buying today the Landmark would be at the top of my short list.

Hi Fred.... yes, we've joined the Carriage group. It's amazing how active that group is. We get a couple of emails every day with postings. We have gotten a lot of good information there.

Darrell and Judy .... we live in the Finger Lakes of NY, so we're heading up to the Syracuse NY RV Show at the state fairgrounds next weekend. It's a smaller show than Hershey, but they usually have a nice selection there. We plan to take a closer look at the Landmark.... I guess we'll be comparing it to the Carriage. We've checked their website out -- there are some different floorplans.

The reason that the Carriage products do not have the high ceilings is because they have the double frame system that eliminates cutting through the frame for the slides. It is a thicker frame system and you lose the extra height in the ceiling as a result of this. Not many RVs have this double frame and most cut through the main frame to allow the slides gear to come through ....check it out.

Thanks Joe and Sherri.... that makes sense. Appreciate you pointing that out. Guess Carriage Cameo is truly a quality product. And honestly, they pretty much have everything we're looking for. We look forward to checking them out again at the Syracuse show.
