Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
The dude (Jim O'Briant) that runs the Yahoo groups regarding the overnight/walmart parking has finally created a map searchable database and web site of this info.
The important thing to note is that the info here (both on the site and what he had in Yahoo Groups) is verified info from actual RV reports. I've played a little with the site so far and IT IS A KEEPER! That is, if you are a frequent overnight parker as opposed to camper.
ahoweth - Link works correctly, I had a boo boo in it at first.
Yes, the cost is 17.95/year. You can look at what you get using the demo button. The demo randomly selects a zip code and show the actual data. In addition go to the Yahoo Groups (he also is on the walmartrving group) and look at the files section for the collection of state-by-state PDF files. This is the massive start of data that was used to prime the database. With the online web site new updates will post only to the new web site and are coming at a furious pace now that it can be updated online.
If you are a walmart/truck stop/rest area/big box store/county-city RV park/fairgrounds/overnight parker person, the data is verified by personal experience and only then posted on this site. It has never failed me and I frequently do the midnight arrival parking thing fully expecting to be able to if my chosen spot is OK'd in these reports.
As a past contributor of info to his Yahoo Group, I got a few weeks of freebie access.
I have not yet met Jim O'Brient, but in my numerous email dealings with him in the past year or so he is a superb, thorough, and detailed person totally on the level. Thorough and detailed are the key attributes for me on this type of thing.
