Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Moving Forward

Hello everyone,
I would like to thank everyone who replied to my post about fulltiming.
Your responses have helped tremendously.  MY hubbie also read them and agreed with some of your comments.  We are moving forward, my hubbie just signed his retirement papers and is finished work July 1.  I continue to declutter my house in order to sell it.  Cannot believe the stuff we have kept over the years.  The neighbours must wonder what's going on.  So many trips to the dump so far-incredible-I still have some good junk though.  I'm letting my children go through it and take what they want.  The rest will go to a recycling firm that we have here. The garage is another nightmare-my hubbie saves everything.  I told him that he will also have to make choices in his personal closet as well.  Sounds like my house is a disaster but it's not- Just always put stuff aside in case we needed it, lol.  My daughter is already crying the blues and saying what am I going to do without you here.
Perhaps I can get some information where to go for the first time.  I know there are a lot of choices but just curious as to where people go-prices etc......
Thanks a million.

It's an easy choice for us. We will fulltime in 11 months and two days. We live in NJ where I am from. Husband from Louisiana. So, we will head that way first to spend time with his family. Then on up to Livingston where Escapees will assist us in becoming Tx residents. From there - who knows?????

Where to go first . . . hmmmmm . . . I think you should ask yourself where have you always wanted to go, but thought you may never have the opportunity. That's where you should go.

As far as what's inexpensive. My suggestion is that you should join two organizations. The first is the Escapees; this organization is vital to a full-timer as it has its own campground system and provides lots of support to the full-timer. Their website is http://www.escapees.com/ .

The other organization is Passport America. This organization is comprised of individual campgrounds who choose to participate in their discount program. The discount given is always 50% which is a huge deal for those of us out here full time. Many of the campgrounds have restrictions on the discount, but those are disclosed up front, so there is no misunderstanding. That website is http://www.passport-america.com/ .

Whatever you decide, just have fun.  I have read your concerns on the other thread and understand, but throw yourself in and enjoy the ride. Hope to see you out on the road.

Where to go? Isn't that the most wonderful problem to have!!
We made a Top 10 List of places we wanted to go and things we wanted to see and do; then started working on that list. The list changed or was amended as we talked to other fulltimers along life's journey. This adventurous lifestyle is still evolving for us, after 3 years. As you settle in to the lifestyle, you'll find out what you like & dislike, how long you like to stay in one place, etc. You'll develop your own travel style. Have fun, be safe, & enjoy the ride.

Be prepared to stay longer than you planned, because there are some places that will capture your heart that is totally unexpected. Just enjoy the ride and adjust if necessary.

It seems to me that there is a new movie out that kinda covers this.  It was something about kicking the bucket.  It has to do with all the things that you want to do before you kick the bucket.  So... You could put all the places you want to see on a slip of paper, and put them in the "bucket" and draw them out one at a time and go for it.  Then you can enjoy all the places in between the choices that you put in the "bucket"  When riding my bike, it is not the destination, but the trip getting there.

Take your time, and stop to see the roses, I mean the miles, as in:

There will be lots of interesting things to see that you might miss, if you don't know about them.  Happy Trails,  Penny, TX
