Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I know some of you here on RV-Dreams belong to Thousand Trails and they have an assortment of memberships. My question is do you like it?? Also I am wondering since it is a family membership I believe there are sections in the camping areas that is strictly for adults....is anyone has any imput can they please post it or e-mail me. Thanks southwestjudy & Bob & those 2backdogs
We are members of Thousand Trails and have been so for more than five years. There are no adult only camping areas but many have adult only activity centers and pools. We had a regular membesrship until we retired but then upgraded to the platinum membership which allows us to stay 3 weeks at a park then we can go straight to another park without having to stay out a week. We are now seeing a return on our investment. Last year we stayed 208 nights at various TT parks and did not have to pay anything except our annual dues. Let us know if you have nay other questions.
We have belonged to Thousand Trails for almost 8 years. As you said, there are many, many different memberships. We can stay only 2 weeks at a time for a total of 50 days per year on our annual dues, but we can go directly to another park and can also make reservations 90 days out. We have enjoyed our membership but have found that many of the preserves are somewhat "out of the way" if you are on the road a lot. They are more of a "destination". We have also found that many of the preserves we have stayed in could use some electrical upgrades...some of the work has been started. We have never seen adult only camping areas, but the larger preserves have adult only pools and activity centers; smaller ones have special hours. We have also taken advantage of the RPI add-on membership. If you want to buy a membership, shop around and buy a "used" one. Before buying, call member services and be certain exactly what that particular membership allows and requires. Happy Trails!
Never been in one that had an adults only section or even a pets section, although that doesn't mean it can't or won't happen.
We have been members for 5 years and have upgraded to a platinum membership. We are on our second TT in Southern California this year. 3 weeks in the mountains and a week lower down and closer to San Diego. Others will (always) have differing opinions but it has worked well for us. We spent about 165 days in TT last year; that makes our cost per night less than $4 last year. Before someone jumps in, that does not include the upgrade costs, but our overall cost for the 5 years is not bad. Somewhat less than $10 per night.
Our plan allows 3 weeks per preserve, then on to the next. No limit on nights per year. We have stayed in all regions and find the campgrounds are fine.
Mike

Judy and Bob, Sherri and I spent one weekend at Lake Texhoma and had the program presented to us. Sounded real good and the price got right toward the end, as they usually do, but we thought we better wait until we go full time on the road to join. We enjoyed the park and through the special offer we got by buying our new Open Road we have 30 days free stays at any TT. We hope to try them out this coming summer.
Thanks all for your input. We have bought a used platium plus membership after talking to Thousand Trails and doing our homework. Since we are full-timing it will help with campground costs in our trails out West this summer. southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs
We have a relative interested in selling a Outdoor World/Thousand Trails membership. They have only used it for cabin rentals and have owned it for years. Here are the features they know about: 1) 2 weeks in/ 1 out 2) PA based home park 3) $720 Xfer fee 4) Anual Dues for them =$260, but when transferred they go to $502
They think they have no max number of nights per a year. I am going to call and get the exact details. I figured I would ask here and get some advice to make sure I ask all the right questions. I do have the membership number.
So folks, what should I ask?
I also need to determine fair compensation to pay them for this membership. Any advice from those who bought used. -- Bruce

We are just going for broke as Firstimers and Fulltimers simultaniously.
Our membership includes so far 3 wks in then you have to move to another pk. Resale price + $750 Transfer fee $565- a yr. 120 days in advance you can make a res. for a pk It includes TT, NACO, Leasuretime Resorts. No Outdoor World or Mid-Alantic Also ROD Resorts of Distinction is not mentioned on TT website which I think can be purchased for $99 a/yr. It is a seperate camping facility and works with TT. There are also family passes for other members if you are a member of TT. southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs
Also check to see if the membership you are buying has the provision for annual dues being frozen at age 62 or age 65. One thing TT Sales doesn't tell you with this, is dues can also be frozen if either of you is on social security disability. The newer memberships don't have these provisions but older ones do. If your contract has this provision, then you can send TT a copy of your contract and a copy of your drivers license or SS notification of disability acceptance.
Big hey to everyone. Thanks for all the info on TT. We are about to buy a 34-35 foor 5er and going to get a TT memebership (used). Any general length restrictions at TT for this 5er that we are almost ready to buy. TT is a big part of our plan. Thanks to all. Rod and Georgia
