Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

New to the forum. We are wannabees.

Hi everyone,
I found this forum about a week ago and have been devouring as much information as I can.  What a great group you all are.

My husband and I hope to hit the road in about 4 years if his health holds out.  If not I plan to go it alone.  Right now we travel with 4 shelties, three of which are very willing and one only because she doesn't want to stay home alone.  Right now we have a 26' Rockwood which we pull with a 06 Tundra double cab (had to have room for the kids).  It is my hope to upgrade to a MH when the time comes to hit the road full time.  I am thinking it will be a Class A DP maybe 3-4 years old. I like what I hear about the Tiffin models, but I haven't found an Allegro that I like the look of and the Phaetons are beyond what I want to spend.  I hope to find a really good deal over the next 2-3 years so I can have it by the time I am ready to hit the road.  If I end up solo then I may go with a larger TT, but not a class B or a 5ver.  I can not imagine pulling a 5th wheel as they seem so high in the front and a B might hold me, but my 4 legged kids would be to much and my craft supplies have to go with me.

I am starting to think about paring down my stuff and think that will be my main goal over the next year.  I only plan to keep a few things that will reasonably fit in a small space.  I enjoy so many different types of crafts and art that it is going to be hard to make my choices.  I love doing doll house miniatures and you can see some of my more recent projects on my blog, but then check out my webshot album for many more of them.   I know I am going to have to give up my dollhouse and I so wish I had decided on a smaller one instead of a high 4' victorian that I can not lift by myself.  I can just see it sitting on one of the tables that are made for the steering wheel in front of the window, but how do I get it up there and take it down when I get ready to move on. So I think I will settle for a small one that I can move around on my own.  I absolutely love making flowers in miniature and gardens are a wonderful way to express creativity.  I also cross stitch so that will go as well and not take up much room.  When ever I think about buying anything, I stop and think, will it be useful in the camper/MH and do I really need more stuff.

My blog is more a daily ramble about what ever strikes my fancy or gets my attention.  Feel free to comment on anything I have posted about.

I know where you are. We just put the house on the market. I started getting rid of stuff three years ago and still have a house full! It is not easy by any stretch! I will have to check out your blog. Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the forum and your future RVing. Like you, I wanted a Tiffin Class A (what my husband and I had previously had, although I had never driven it nor done the outside stuff <G>). I ended up with a very nice Class C that I am thrilled with. I don't have slides but since it's only me and no pets, that works out fine.

Looking forward to your adventures as you get ready for the road!

Welcome MizDeb!  You will find this forum to me a great source of information and a community of friendly folks.  My husband and I are hoping to start fulltiming later this summer.  It has been hard trying to figure out what we'll bring with us.  Like you, before I buy anything I ask myself whether I will be able to take it in the RV.  Also, if I need to buy new clothes, I try to buy only quick drying materials (I plan on hand-washing my clothes most of the time).

Hopefully we'll see you down the road.
Colleen
