Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

The house is on the market!

Well we got er done! The house is up for sale and we are ready to move on. Wife still going through withdrawl on what she is going to do with all those things we have put up....and never look at ....You ladies know what I mean. She could use some incouragement from those of you that have already gone through that part. The only thing I have to take care of are my Shop Tools. I have a full woodworking shop and I do not want to sale any of it. I hope to have a barn put out at my daughters place so when I come in off the road I can make something. Sherri has her sewing machines but they are in the 5ver. I have really missed all you guys on Chat! We have been so busy getting the house ready and I still W%^&%$&. Oh well wish us luck and hope to see all of you at the Rally!!!!

Good luck on the sale of your home Joe and Sherri! Don't know what to tell you about the 'stuff' as I am in the same situation. LOL! Keeping a storage unit for now for things we don't want to give to the kids yet. Have a feeling we will get rid of everything and do away with it in a year or so. Selling is very stressful as is parting with some of the things. We are trying to be supportive of each other. At least I haven't strangled GC yet! LOL!

Congratulations! As far as what to do with all the stuff, best advice is to get a storage unit for a year and then make decisions on what you can't live without. That's what we did and then ended up getting rid of everything in it! I am one of those odd women who didn't feel a great attachment to the things we had, so I can't help Sherri with that!

Just enjoy the ride. Good luck on the sale of the house. Hope it goes quickly so you can leave that headache behind.

I seriously wish you guys the best. However, I am still trying to seperate myself from my home after selling it an being on the road for 2 years of fulltiming. We still have some things in storage and they will sit there til we make up our minds. Some women have a hard time adjusting and I am one of them.

i feel the same way.. After we received the offer yesterday,  began to get a litlle nervous.. it  makes it easier for us since the buyers want the furniture so we won't have to try and get rid of the big stuff, just a few garage sales and givaways and we will be ready.. But I know the transition from sticks and bricks will take some getting use to.

Joe & Sherri,

From the bottom of my heart I wish you GOOD LUCK. Hopefully it will sell soon. We certainly know what you're going through.

Sherri,
Being new to this whole full-timing lifestyle, I can only give you my opinion.  Being a Quilter I have found that having the familiarity of my sewing machine and doing something that you normally do (did) in your home, makes the transition a little easier and helps it feel more like "home".

I too have "stuff" in storage, and after only 3 weeks of traveling, can;t really remember what is packed into this huge warehouse space.....Sure there are things like our heirloom furniture and pictures that are irreplacable, but that stuff will all be there when you get back.

Emotionally...go with the flow, and expect ups and downs. Some of us (women in general) have different degrees of up and down and you know yours best. I am still waiting for my degrees to flexuate, but so far, no real rollercoaster....Too busy and excited about the next place to go and see to waste time missing "stuff".  As for kids....I'm just gonna fly mine out every 4-6 weeks to share this experience with them.  (they are adults 27 & 33 yo). Besides they still call-text-email several times a day, so what's to miss?

What's the one place you always wanted to visit.....place your energy on planning how and when you'll get there....see if that helps. Works for me.

Good Luck with the sale...just sold ours in November 07.  What a relief.

Sue
