Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

acid reflux

i know this is far beyond what this site is about..
We are still trying to sell our home and are getting very nervous if we will ever sell to go fulltiming.. my question is, i have since gotten bad acid reflux.. I have had it for years and take medication but now it just seems as if i have a lump of peanut butter in my throat..my throat feels like i have mucus all the time.. I want to full time without any medical complications..

i guess I should go in and have it endoscopied.. any experience with any of you guys as far as medical that would put your plans on hold? any one had this acid reflux experience?hmm

Yes, you should really get this checked out. May be something to do that would alleviate the problem and not require long term medication. Always better to treat early than late.

Good luck.

Donna,

Please go asap and have it checked out. Women always put things off where their health is concerned. Getting ready to fulltime is very stressful. You and I are on the same page so I can relate. I probably need to take my own advice! :)

You should have your doctor check it out.  It is better to deal with these things early on rather than waiting until they get worse.

I've had acid reflux for years. Medication does help but so does avoiding trigger foods. I kept a food diary for about 8 months and have identified anything acidic, ie. tomatoes, oranges, grapefruit, tomato sauces which includes baked beans, wine and also caffeine as in coffee, chocolate etc.

We also had the head of our bed in the RV raised six inches which has helped immensely.

I've had other symptoms including being unable to take a deep breath which put me in the hospital two years ago in Cincinnati with all sorts of heart/lung tests. I've since learned breathing exercises to cure this problem.

It's not fun, but there's no reason for you to stay at home and give up a fulltiming dream.

First things first, though, have your doctor check it out and get you on the right medication. I would recommend the food diary though.

Check it out, it could be a hiatal hernia, at least then you know. I've had that happen to me when I've had a bad cold, then goes away. My endosocpy was clean last year and it was a relief to know

You should definitely get it checked out.  If you sleep on a wedge, it is helpful also.  There is an inflatable, adjustable wedge pillow at www.wondawedge.com that works great for this.  Best wishes to you.
