Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Campground closures

While researching which campgrounds we have stayed at since 2001 had wi-fi advertised I learned something interesting, only two of them no longer exists! I probably should total the number of distinct campgrounds, but we have made just over 500 stops and I expect the total number of campgrounds to be around 300. A couple had changed names, but only two were gone. The first campground, 3 Seasons RV Resort in Rehoboth Beach, DE, had already been sold for condos when we stayed in 2003. It was open for the season in 2004 for the last time. The other was Las Vegas International RV Resort, which the owners turned into housing when the Las Vegas market went up so fast.
I know we have heard a lot of reports of campground closures and know of many where we have not stayed, but I still think it is significant that almost every place we have stayed is still available for us.

A couple of years ago we stayed at Ho-Hum RV Park in Carrabelle, FL.  It's a neat little park right on the Gulf of Mexico.  We had a waterfront site with a great view of the Gulf right out our motorhome's windshield.

We were told then that it would soon be sold for condominium development, but I notice that their website http://www.hohumrvpark.com/ is still active.  Maybe the dwindling real estate market saved this nice park at least for awhile!

Ho-Hum is still open. We stayed there this past spring and I talked to the CG hosts about the selling of the park.

It seems like the deal fell through, (because of zoning, I think), then a hurricane came through and completely trashed the park. In fact, the host said that all the picnic tables got washed over to the other side of the highway. The owner was going to close down the park, but after some thought, he decided to repair the facilities and reopen again.

We're glad they did. It's a neat little parksmile

We stayed at Ho Hum as they were rebuilding after the hurricane. Nice place in a very quiet part of the coast.
