Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Different kind of full-timers?

Hello, this looks like a great forum. OK long story short, my husband and I are in our 30's. One day he came home from work and said "I'm sick of this town and I'm sick of this mortgage!" And I said, "You know, its a situation we can change". We had plans for later in life but modified them a bit so we could enact them much earlier. So we put our property up for sale and decided to look for land and a camper we could live full time in. This way we have a fresh start with no debt. We have always wanted a homestead where we could make our own power and grow most of our food. In short- be as independant as possible. And now we can do it!
We like to travel too so that is another great thing about having a camper. Besides, my back can't take tent camping anymore!
So I have found this forum right at a time when its all happening. We pick up our camper on Friday, and close on our property next week. Then, its off to look for land!
For the small budget we have and all the research we did, it was a relief to finally find something that suits our needs. It is a 1995 Newmar Kountry Aire 5th wheel with 3 slides. It is in great shape for its age but needs an interior makeover- too much pink for our taste.  It looks to be well-insulated and has a ton of storage.
For its maiden voyage, we are going down to the coast for an annual party with some of my college friends. Previously there has only been one other couple (friends of ours) with a camper, and its a classic airstream that they restored. It will be fun to give tours to all our friends and gather ideas for how we are going to redecorate. Plus, they're all gonna want to store their beer in our fridge!
Thats it for now, thanks for reading!

Samantha and Craig,

This is a great forum, and all kinds of Full-timers are welcome here. Good luck on your maiden voyage, and I'm sure everyone will want to take the tour.

Just one thing, don't let them drink all of the beer. You need to save a few for the new friends you're sure to make on your trip. biggrin

Welcome to the forum! People have different ways of full-timing. There is no one way to live this lifestyle just as there is no one way to live the "other" lifestyle. We look forward to hearing about your adventures and journey so post often.

Glad you are here!

Wow, Samantha and Craig, I totally admire your decision to make your life be the life you want it to be. At twice your age, I am finally there.

I feel so fortunate to be doing what I want to do now, and so well supported by the people in this community. Glad you have joined it!
