Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Alaska Travel-Passport requirements?

Anyone found out requirements for travel thru Canada summer 2008?
Websites seem a little obscure about whether a passport will be required or not?

We were told by the cruise line, because one port was Canadian, we needed a passport. That seemed to work out as not quite true. I remember reading HS decided to ease up because of the passport backlog.

I would suspect 2008 will require them, but your best source of information will be the Post Office or Passport office. It might take a phone call.

Required or not it can't hurt. Ours took 7 weeks to get but our daughter's family took more than 10 weeks.

The latest I have heard was July 2008 for land travel to Canada and Mexico will require a passport to get back into the U.S. A passport works better for coming back today than a driver's license or birth certificate, things go smoother.

We just renewed ours and it took three weeks for one to come back and about five weeks for the other. If you can start the process sooner rather than later you will be happier.

As was mentioned, it can't hurt.  You might as well get them as you'll need them eventually.  We recently went into Mexico and the agents heartily thanked us for having them when we returned.  They just scanned them in their machine and sent us on our way.
