Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Custom Tonneau Covers for Fiver pulling pickups like Howard's?

I think having a bed cover would be a great feature.
Any commerciall available rolling and some folding could be used with a hitch while towing, but would leave most of the bed exposed.

I've googled for a custom cover like Howard has to no avail.  Perhaps a report on how this unique (?) feature has been working out would be helpful.

I know it was expensive ($650 - reported early on as startup costs as I recall) compared to stock soft tonneau covers, and needed some adjustments and subsequent repair.

Is this a "recommended" approach versus the open pickup beds often with toolboxs that are most common?
What vendors will make these?  I wouldn't mind using Howard's Vendor in KY if he's still recommended.  Are there any others?

Thanks!

A bed cover is a great feature and gives you a lot more storage space.
We bought a roll up cover and it's only open when we tow, which we rarely do if it's raining.biggrin The rest of the time it's closed and secure. We keep extra clothes, tools and misc. stuff in 3 large covered boxes at the front. There is really a lot of room in the bed.
Good luck,
Fred

I would have to agree.  I have the Access Rollup Cover and it has served me well. Wouldn't be without it.  A lot better than those other types with the removable arched bows I had on my other trucks.   Also, it doesn't interfere at all with my 5th wheel hitch.
