Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Judy and I visited the RV Museum in Elkhart today and it was great. First one you see is a 1913 Earl pulled by a Model T. A little more into the exhibit they had a motorized touring coach used by Mae West in the 20's. It had a rear porch built on the rear and she sat on the porch on her rocking chair. They had many examples of RV's from pop-ups to 40' travel trailers. In a different wing they have new examples, Not as cool as the old ones, the old ones had somewhat of class that cannot be duplicated. I think I want to find an "Earl". Bob
I visited the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart a couple of weeks ago. I was very impressed by the design of the building--which is not yet completed--and the displays of current RV models (one of each class) and RVs of days gone by were awesome. I was a little disappointed in the 'Hall of Fame' as its' members where almost exclusively manufacturers and dealers. In fact the only non-commercial honoree I saw was Maxwell Gaylord (Life-On-Wheels). I believe that there are numerous RVers out there who, through their commitment to and advocacy of the life style, have contributed far more to recreational RVing then some RV dealer in east Texas. Our hosts Howard and Linda being a good example.
These people most of them anyway who have been added to the Hall of Fame as contributors ....I am sure have dontated money to this wonderful place and have been comitted over the yrs with theyre own time. We want to visit it again when it is finally completed. For the ones who have taken the time and effort and money to bring some of these old rvs back to "LIFE" and place in the museum my hat goes off to them for us to enjoy them in todays fast moving world Also while we were there they have a wonderful library and a couple was there looking up as to what they needed into restoring and were elated in the researching they were finding. This past wkend was the grand opening and a newspaper called "The Truth" of Indiana, was doing photos and caught me steppiing out of one of the RV oldies its posted on the newspaper site. southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs
