Yuma-Here we come but where to stay?

We have stayed at Fortuna de Oro and it matches your criteria with lots of activities and such. It even has its own beauty shop and restaurant. We only stayed a week but some friends stayed much longer.

We stayed at Cocopah RV Resort last Sept. for a few days. It was definately off-season and very hot but neat, clean and very nice people. A beautiful golf course, a few shops and I think at least one restaurant. Things are different off-season. They said Oct. 1st. it starts getting very crowded.

Good Luck in finding a place that suits your needs as last winter we cked out most of the places early and all were full most snowbirds go there yr after yr because of the weather being nice. Lots of pools, activities and whatnot but way to crowded for us in lots of the pks, they were either side by side or parked back to back and we have a big window in our rig in the back and didnt want to look at another ......so we spent the month of Nov and Dec near Blythe, Ca.

We stayed at Las Quintas Oasis a couple of years ago for a week. We were only in the overnight pull thru spots which were quite close together but the long term people had larger lots (all back ins). It was a nice park with a pool but the shower layout was weird. They had a fenced area for dogs. It was on the eastern side of town just off a road that ran along the freeway. If I went again, I'd probably look for another park but it was okay.

Barb and I and my wife's sister and husband went to Cocopah 2 Christmas' back for about 10 days. It was really great. Everybody decorated for Christmas and there were many parties and the golf course is beautiful. Everybody was very friendly and included us in there goings-on. We had a great time just walking around the park and looking at the other rigs. There were a lot of snowbirds that hadn't arrived yet but I don't think it would ever get too crowded. We will go back.

I also stayed at Cocopah RV Resort and it is loaded with amenities, activities (In Season) and a Golf Course winds through the resort.

They have a section set aside for RVers with pets, which is near a 2 1/2 acre grassy area for the dogs to socialize together. They can run free, off leash, and they can meet other dog friends and it gives you an opportunity to meet people friends.

The rate for monthly or quarterly is very reasonable and it includes full hookups and cable. It is not the cheapest in the area, but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

It is a large park, but during the high season you will need to make reservations.

So is it a fair assessement that the Yuma area is quite busy during the winter months and campgrounds might be hard to come by? Is the Tucson area like that also?

Thanks to all who posted. We found an RV resort in El Centro which about 60 miles west of Yuma. After calling a bunch of Yuma places and seeing how much their rates went up this year, and several of the places were not helpful at all for first time snowbirds. Judy at Sunbeam Lake RV resort was so helpful, there web site looks fantastic for the cost.

Carstorm, we wintered in Tucson last winter and yes it also is a snowbird haven but I think there are more rv parks in a larger area and we didnt have any problems and we stayed at 3 different ones during our winter there . While we were there we did ck out others and decided against them as they were in noisy areas of Tucson.
