Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I finally broke down and bought a hummingbird feeder about a month ago. Well, today I finally saw my first hummingbird on the feeder. But he didn't seem at all interested in what was inside Since I am a newbie to feeding them, I was wondering what the problem might be?? the same nectar has been in there awhile, could that be it?
I have found that 4 parts water to 1 part granulated sugar is the best nectar for Hummingbirds. Just bring water to a boil, then stir in the sugar, and goes without saying allow to cool to room temperture.
Unused nectar can be referigerated up to 2 weeks. If your feeder has been sitting around with the same nectar for a while, perhaps the Hummingbirds have lost their interest.

I have heard you have to change and clean feeder every week. I have been doing this but no hummingbirds. :( Anyone know what I am doing wrong? I mixed the store bought nectar as directed on the directions...cleaning if weekly ...but not one hummingbird.
When we put ours up the first time my mom and dad who had been putting at least one up for years said to start with 1 part sugar to 3 parts water to attract them faster and told us to stay away from the store bought necter. It must have worked now the come to the window and tell us every spring that they are back and want the feeder up. Anna
A friend's grandson kept going to her refrigerator and drinking the great Kool Aid Grandop made. My friend said she didn't know he had made any. But there in the fridge was this pitcher of red drink. She asked her husband when he made Kool Aid for the kids. You guessed it, hummingbird nectar made from a store bought mix. That kid was on a sugar high for days!
