Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Another Alaskan newbie

Well, here goes.  I joined earlier today and don't want to be a lurker like I've been for a couple of years on other RV forums.  I've been gleaning information everywhere I can and until last week was too nervous to post.  I did but I was a wreck!  I tend to suffer from intermittent episodes of social phobia.  Maybe, since this appears to be a kinder, gentler forum, I'll relax a bit.  No promises -

Anyhoo - we live in Anchorage, where  full-timing-type RVs are only available used and rarely,  so when a '98 Alpenlite 5th wheel came along we grabbed it, even though we are not beginning our full-time adventure until late summer '08.  It currently sits in the driveway where the previous owner kindly parked it for us.  Then it was off to find a TV.  Had to order to get a 2WD Ford 350 .  Hopefully before we have to store the 5er for the winter, we'll get a chance to hook it up and take it for a short trip - maybe to the MatSu Valley!!  Then we hope to sell house in May, live in Alpenlite until departure date.

Yes, AK is good, summers are great but enough with the winters already.  26 of them is my limit.

Boots

Welcome to the RV-Dreams Forum!  Actually, I'm a newbie too, just joined a few days ago smile.gif  I understand exactly where you are coming from regarding the winters....because I escaped Ohio when I retired and don't have any plans on living anywhere in the winter again.  Again, welcome aboard and enjoy the forum!  Allison

Boots,

Welcome to the forum. This is a very friendly bunch, so don't hesitate to jump right in. On this forum, there's no such thing as a stupid question. Most everyone here is just starting out, and they realize that the only way to get answers is to ask.

We've been to Alaska, and you have some beautiful scenery up there. In fact a friend of ours lives in Palmer, and he has a beautiful view of mountains from his front door.smile

Hi Boots, don't know if you read our newbie post, it was awhile back. We are are in Anchorage too! We are planning our fulltime adventure in 2010, that is if we can contain ourselves! The more we research and read about this lifestyle, the more anxious we get. We haven't got our fiver or tow vehicle yet, we have looked alot though. We are planning garage sales and things we need to do to the house to sell. Some days it feels like it is a far-off dream!

we are-

Hey it is so good to see others join our forum. You are correct when you say this is a friendly bunch. Everyone on this site is so good to answer your questions and give advise on all types of topics. You will love being a part of this group. We are having a rally next year and I can not wait to meet some of the great people that I have been fortunate enough to talk to on the forum and the chat. Take a look at the chat room if you have a chance and lurk if you like no one minds. I think once you are there you will join right in.

Welcome

Joe and Sherri
