Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

As if there aren't already enough things to think about, here is an article about another consideration (and question to ask the manufacturer) about whether or not formaldehyde has been used in any of the construction materials...

Great find !

When looking at a few fifthwheels the fumes were overwhelming. The only one (so far) that I have stepped into that seemed fume free was the Newmar Torrey Pine ,could be one of the reasons WE like it best.biggrin

Formaldahyde (and other chemicals) in building materials can really bother some people more than others. Some people are allergic to many chemicals that are used in the binding of materials.

Another use of formaldahyde in chemicals used in black and grey holding tanks are dumped in the septic tanks and kill all the organizms that break down the waste. That's why many dump stations have been closed.

Sure would like to know which manufacturers use formaldehyde so we can avoid them!

By the way, there are many holding tank chemicals available that don't have any formaldehyde.  Just check in Camping World.

The Heartland (Landmark, Bighorn) lines of fifth wheels offer a formaldahide-free construction. This was just another reason that we chose them. biggrin
