Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi everyone! I have been lurking here for a few days now and I am just amazed at what a warm and friendly forum this is and how much fabulous information I have found here!
I'm Melinda and my hubby is Shawn. We're 37 and 39. We are in the research phase, learning about fulltiming and hope to be able to do it sometime around 2010, when our now 15-year old daughter graduates from high school. We also have an 18yo daughter who may or may not join us on the road. She wants to be out on her own in her "own life" by then. We also have a 2-year-old daughter who will be homeschooled, and God willing, Roadschooled.
Right now we live in Charlotte, NC. I work very part-time and my hubby is the fulltime breadwinner. Our biggest area of research at this point is about making a living on the road. My hubby's area of expertise is in both landscaping and maintenance/handyman work so we feel like he could find work at campsites and parks, etc. I also do web design on the side and I am an artist, so I feel pretty confident about mobile earning.
I am really looking forward to getting to know all the great folks here and learning from your experiences. Hopfully we will be able to meet many of you in person once we get on the road!
I browsed your blog and especially liked your entry about naysayers, they pop up everywhere, sort of like dandelions, they have their place... Sounds like you have overcome some challenges in your life and are stronger for it.
If you don't know about Dave Ramsey check out his website +/or radio program. Common sense, no nonsense money advice. Also here's a link to Families on the Road a Yahoo group with lots of interesting folks. We've never full-timed with our boys, now 17 and 14 but we did live in a 5th wheel for a year while building a house and have taken extended vacations (in a pop-up). We hope to part-time in the future.
Thanks Judy! I always wonder if anyone actually reads blogs, lol. Then again I do so I supposed lots of people enjoy them! I appreciate your comments and suggestions. We have joined the Families on the Road group and love it. We've learned so much and found so much good info from many already full-timing families.
My wife Sherri and I lived in Charlotte for 3 years and loved it. We are now in Dallas for a couple of years and then out to Arizona. We want to welcome you to the group and hope that we all can be a help to you.
