Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I just checked today and find my fridge is on the recall list. I called local RV dealership but they are only working on units they sold. I called where I bought our fifth wheel (just in February) and was told they are swamped with recalls. Telephone operator said she would have someone call me back later today. Has not. I will give them a day or two before calling them back.
I read the literature in their web site. Scarey. Our unit is a 2002. It says do not use on LP. Use carefully on electric and not when sleeping. Gosh, we have lots of weekenders coming up.
Have any of you had experience? Does it take long to work on the problem.
Click Here to look up your Dometic refer. A completely voluntary recall by Dometic applies to 2 door units made from Apr 1997 to May 2003. You will need model and serial numbers. It is a huge recall, however, based on voluminous posts in other forums it seems more preventative than problematic. Kudos to Dometic for doing what's right. In any case, check your unit for the recall.
We had our recall done a couple of weeks ago. I didn't go back to our selling dealer as they are a terrible dealer, so I called another dealer close by about 2 months ago and he ordered the repair kit and got me in right away. They added some sort of sheet metal so you can't see the burner very easy now and it looked like they added or replaced some of the wiring as a red wire now looks new. Not sure what they really did, but there was sawdust inside the RV so they may have had to take the refrigertor out. I really think there is a small chance of a fire but you can't be too careful.
