Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Too many forums

LOL, Howard, I ask for this category and it's here, but, sheesh! so many others!  Too complicated for me.

OK, here's my question:  Howard, are you a very regimented guy?  Here you are trying to get us to conform to which box we stand in.

Luv ya, Howard, that's just my 2 cents. Nevertheless, I thank you for creating such a pleasant community.

I just go to recent posts when I log on, and just see the newest posts in declining order.  Very easy to keep up.

Or do you mean this whole forum, and the other 6 or so that we sometimes monitor.

This Sub-Forum is "Ask Howard" NOT "Give Howard Grief".

Now, I added more Sub-Forums because folks were starting topics in categories where they didn't really fit and there were not any other related options.  Our Forum includes lots of members that are not all that familiar with Forums and the "Search" feature, so my intent was to provide categories where folks could more easily find topics of interest to them without scrolling through every post in an unrelated Forum.  Over time we can collapse the least used Sub-Forums.

But I understand what you are saying.  So, I'm open to hearing suggestions about the optimum number of categories and which ones you would list.  Let's hear some proposals!

I for one like the sub forums the way they have been changed.Easier to find a subject of interest without reading unrelated posts IMHO.

LOL, Oh, I cleaned my glasses.  Now I see, "ask" Howard, not grief Howard

For what it's worth,  there are people who say they prefer lots of subcategories and there are those who don't.  I have seen this on lots of Bulletin Boards, but ultimately,
most active ones are the ones where there are the fewest categories.  That seems to be more condusive to friendly chat.  I liked what you had before, except, of course, I love this new Give Howard Grief, oops, I mean, Ask Howard category/forum/subforum.

OT, Howard, tell Linda to read the email I sent her about the light...PRONTO... before she buys one.

That works best for me as well.

I ditto Fred's comment.  That's how I do it too.  No problem.

I'm with Fred on this one.  Guess I'm too lazy to scroll all the categories (sigh) and then have to pull up the posts ( double sigh) and then do it all over again for the next category....I'm tired just thinking about it

I agree that the "Recent Posts" button is extremely useful, especially for those of us that read EVERY post.

But we do need to keep in mind the new folks that find us every day.  Just by putting in "Wannabe Fulltimer" in Google, this Forum already pops up at the top of page two in the search results.  That's pretty cool!

So we do want to make the Forum user-friendly for those just finding it.  I prefer fewer Forum categories myself.  But, as someone new to the forum thing, it took me awhile to learn how to best use the "Search" feature to find what I was looking for.  In the beginning, as I was learning, I found the more specific categories to be useful.

So it just depends on the individual user and their level of comfort.  Let's give this a chance for a little while and, as I said before, we will start to collapse the categories that are not getting much use.

As always, thanks for the input!

I don’t think you have to may categories. This may be a lot of work for you but on Good Sams FORUM they actually move off topic subjects to what the moderator thinks are appropriate. I do use the GS FORUM frequently an notice a lot of folks just post in the Class A FORUM for some reason.confused.gif

Just my 2 cents. idea

Keep up the good work, ron

I'm with the sub-catagories. I'm still fairly new so first Read all the latest comments/catagories then do more searching. I've received the most helpful info here. Thanks all and Howard!

Keep all the sub topics the way they are, Howard, and start as many as you want. There are many of us über-organizers out there that love it !!
Thanks for the tip about the recent posts button. Didn't know it was there. I'll look for it.

Howard this is one of the best forums on the net! I surf all over and your's is one of the easiest to get around in. As far as going to the Recent Posts we are not answering all the question so many have posted. Seems we skirt over them and then forget about those poor folks that asked a question and never do get an answer. Gosh I hope that all my questions get answered on the Recent Post or I am just out of luck? (Thanks Fred your the Best!) Getting answers is what this is all about. Please tell all that we should read the old post and see if we can help someone out. After their question is beat to death I say get it off the page, but at least get it answered. Howard, you and Linda have a good forum! Keep up the good work

Howard, I use the recent posts also.  I love this forum.  This was the 1st one I read.  I also scroll through the other posts and look at the date to see if I have missed anything.
I also think it is alot more interesting than some of the others.  My 2 cents also.
